champion "classes" do not define them. instead it highlights their strongest areas
There is a post speaking about how "if the role of a assassin is to kill the high priority target quickly, why do many of them have AoE damage"
well i believe the answer is simple. In a moba game like League / Dota 2, champions arent really designed with a class in mind, moreso they are designed with a gameplay element and certain elements of power and weakness in their gameplay.
now moving on from that. The champion class simply was created to allow new players to easily identify strengths of champions, and then it sort of stayed from there
however. i believe the champion class system is good and should stay. because it serves as a way to identify champions for new players
however i think its safe to say that champion classes are moreso a way to highlight what riot believes are the strongest elements of a champion
an "assassin" is a champion that has "going in and being able to kill a high priority target" as one of their strongest strengths in their gameplay. but its not their only gameplay element. champions that are tagged as "assassin" certainly have a high-ability to be able to single out and kill certain targets, but its not their only power. champions are designed with many outlets of power and many gameplay weaknesses, and the class system just helps identify what riot thinks is the strongest area of a champions kit
Now you are also a melee carry after you finish assassinating the primary target. Great to play for the lolz
and play him as a hybrid marksman(?)
, AD
, etc, the point is you can play a champion any way you want, it's just up to you to see if you actually want to do it.
