Is Aurelion Sol worth learning

I've been really fond of the "Mage" sort of play style since I usually play more Assassin orientated champions Zed Nocturne. One mage I have been really fond of is Aurelion sol AurelionSol. I really like his design and his dialogue, and his abilities. However the Riot store rates him at 3 difficulty bars (Max) or 7 for the old client. I'd really appreciate it someone could tell me if he is still viable, and most importantly, is he hard to pick up!

Any replies would be appreciated!

He's viable, and difficult to master. He's got a gaping weakness (melee) and you have to learn how to play around that. Once you do though, he can dominate. That being said, he plays pretty passively. If you're coming from an assassin background, you'll likely be bored by his playstyle.

Short answer: Yes he is worth.

Long answer: Aurelion Sol can be entirely shut down by the enemy comp, and if 1-2 divers are there then you need to have a good frontline or better divers in order to survive. Once you learn Aurelion Sol you will see that his play pattern is a lot different from most of the other characters and he has to take care of his team during laning phase the most he can. Balancing his roam with own lane control is the first step. Teamfights is where he shines, he can keep his stars constantly hitting enemies which makes not-so-mobile teamcomps your dinner table.

He is really hard to learn and manage but he is really powerful once you get a good grip on him.

the short answer? yes. longer answer? hell yes.

explanation:

he has a unique kit focused around roaming, but he is balanced without 1v1ing the other guy being "the key that unlocks all doors". he is different and difficult is a different way of saying he will challenge you and grant you satisfaction.

AoS, when mastered, is one of the most bullshity champion in the game. Not in the sense that you get outplayed by him but in the sense that it's just bullshit.

Gameplay wise? Not really. Not really? Most things are done better by a vel'koz, and more safely.

Thematic wise There is nothing like him, you are a god damn space dragon and... well. https://youtu.be/HU1QUSrgp4E?t=7m3s

Such a cool champ. They just nurfed him to hell and back. You never see him played anymore. Sad really. But a very cool champ. But very weak if a champ gets inside his stars.

Aurelion Sol is one of the single best mid laners in the game when mastered, but he has a very steep learning curve.

Nah.

because all melee champions need gap closers.

Check out r/Aurelion_Sol_Mains. We'd love to give you a qualified report of whether its worth or not. I think there's a couple posts of people asking as much yesterday, so you could check it out too. :) The short answer is absolutely.

#1 DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE RIOT STORE DIFFICULTY BARS.

Aurelion sol is definitely worth learning but your passive is such an strong free poke but you can get heavily punished for bad positioning if you get too aggressive. He's still strong af cause rn the meta for like almost every elo is to get mid ahead, then roam bot and get bot ahead and it gets very easy from there. Like everytime my jg ganks mid early and snowballs mid and if the mid roams bot, it always end up in a chance of winning. However since I'm in low elo (silver 4 in NA), we throw games cause silver and bronze have 0 difference(I been in bronze for 2 months, silver for like a year now)
