[DAR] Design a Rioter - ManWolfAxeBoss

EDIT : 2nd version is up.

I decided to start a little game where I elect a random Rioter and design a Champion/Item around him. These concepts are supposed to be semi serious. The won't ever be something like an item that allows you to instantly win or a champion that is flat out obnoxious, but I not everything is meant to be perfectly balanced either. As you should've guessed, the first iteration is about the greatly bearded man bringer of Norse mythology references itself, ManWolfAxeBoss.

So let's start with "Yeah... but who's that dude anyway?". Well, first of all, he's obviously a Rioter, since it's the purpose of the thread. He's currently employed as a QA Analyst. What does that mean? Sweet nothing. The title basically means that among the guys that makes sure the production (aka the game) is of a reasonable quality, he's one of the guy "analyzing" information. Now, onto the more concrete aspect of his job, he's a big fan of Dominion and has been playing the map since long ago, taking part in a lot of events like Riot vs Community or other DominateDominion discussion/games. Recently, he has taken part in a few Dominion projects like Crystal Scar balance (along with Nome, now The BatNome) and the Revive Trinket. There used to be a photo of him hanging around the old board (courtesy of Scarizard), but the links expires quite frequently around there and it's thus gone.

New version, started roughly from the ground up. Thematics remain globally the same, but with a different approach. It will still be "Bulky Norse"-based, but a lot less about himself, and more about being a "flagbearer". The kit will be built around being a bruiser that can either initiate and run in or stay behind and peel (Imagine Udyr... but more team-focused). I also dropped a bit of the norse mythology to replace it with universal feodality (swordfighting, armors, mead).

Also, as hinted by the Brain Mead, ManWolfAxeBoss uses mana, but costs are so volatile that I prefer to leave them out. Only Special Brew wouldn't have any cost since it's stack based.

#ManWolfAxeBoss - The Almighty Blade

Innate : Parry After using an ability, ManWolfAxeBoss readies a parry for 3 seconds. The next attack hiting him deals 50% reduced damage and can't critically hit. Additionally, the person who attacked him has 20% reduced attack speed for 2 seconds.

Q : Armor Rend ManWolfAxeBoss deals 50/65/80/95/110 damage (+0.8 bonus AD) physical damage (ignores base armor) in a line. All targets hit also have their bonus armor reduced by 20/24/28/32/36% for 6 seconds.

Range : 500 Cooldown : 13/12/11/10/9

W : Special Brew Passive : ManWolfAxeBoss gains one stack of Warrior's Ale every 30s, up to a cap of 3 (starts with 2). Additionally, all drinkables are transformed into more potent brews. Active : MaxWolfAxeBoss can drink the Mead himself or give it to an ally. The unit drinking the mead gains 10/15/20/25/30 Attack damage but loses 13/16/19/22/25% base attack speed for 8s.

Range : 300 Cooldown : 3s

E : Funeral Pyre ManWolfAxeBoss sets an enemy ablaze dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+1 AP) magic damage over 8 seconds and revealing him for the duration. Additionally, allies standing close to the pyre will benefit from 15/20/25/30/35% bonus movement and attack speed.

Radius : 320/335/350/365/380 Range : 550 Cooldown : 24/23/22/21/20

R : The Last Mead After drinking for 1.5s, ManWolfAxeBoss refreshes all his cooldowns by 50% and turns back into a wolf for 12/15/18s. In this form, ManWolfAxeBoss readies a Parry every 4th attack, Armor Rend now also acts as a dash, Special Brew no longers reduces his attack speed and Funeral Pyre can be cast on himself to receive twice the effect (including damage).

Cooldown : 120/100/80

Excellent start. But...

  1. I don't have a beard so we're gonna need a new title
  2. Being a ManWolf isn't about macho manliness. It's about being metal (ex - Someone says, "Hey MWAB, you need a coffee?" - I call my mom, put it on speaker phone and let her listen as I eat the nearest computer monitor)
  3. I would never let an animal fight for me
  4. Gonna need some mead
  5. Weapon of choice is a great sword
  6. ManWolf

Yes.

I actually hosted my own funeral last year, which involved building, painting and burning a boat at sea. Was pretty powerful. And I will be making a new batch of mead this weekend.

This is the right direction.

Old version, for reference purpose

Ideally, I would've liked to develop a new champion based on the Dominion meta, since that's what he likes. Sadly, I've never really gotten into Dominion, so it may fall slightly short of what I understand a standard Dom top lane support to be. Needless to say, he had to be both nordic and manly. So, I decided to make a champion based on the 4 aspects of MWAB, so it had to include Man, Wolf, Axe and Boss, on top of still touching Norse Mythology.

#ManWolfAxeBoss - The Almighty Beard

Innate : Boss People fighting near ManWolfAxeBoss are inspired by him. Their health regen is doubled, and it can overheal forming a shield up to 10% of their max health which fades after leaving his side for more than 8s. Additionally, minions and monsters killed by him rushes to his side to fight for him for 3/4/5/6/7/8 seconds (at 1/4/7/10/13/16).

Q : Man Pasive : Using his brawns to outwit his opponent, ManWolfAxeBoss endures through whatever comes his way. Upon receiving damage, ManWolfAxeBoss gains a stack of "Manliness" for 4s up to a cap of 8/11/14/17/20, granting him 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 bonus Armor and Magic Resist per stack. Active : ManWolfAxeBoss fixes the wounds of an allied unit or himself, healing them for 20/40/60/80/100 plus 25% of their missing health.

Cooldown : 32/30/28/26/24

W : Wolf Passive : ManWolfAxeBoss commands Fenrir to come to his side. Fenrir will attack enemies close to ManWolfAxeBoss, prioritizing champions. Active : Fenrir takes a bite at the given champion. If it kills the target, Fenrir grow stronger boosting all his stats by 1%, up to a cap of 13/16/19/22/25%.

Fenrir revives after 180 seconds or by going back to the fountain.

Cooldown : 8/7/6/5/4

E : Axe Active : ManWolfAxeBoss takes a swipe at enemies in front of him, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+0.8 Bonus AD) physical damage.Enemies facing away are also left bleeding for 40/50/60/70/80 true damage over 6 seconds.

Cooldown : 12/10.5/9/7.5/6

R : Gjallarhorn ManWolfAxeBoss mounts Fenrir gaining 15/25/35% Movement Speed and blows the Gjallarhorn, calling his fellow warriors to combat. All nearby champions gain 30/45/60 attack damage and 50/75/100 ability power for 30 seconds. Minions receive half the effect but benefit from 50% damage mitigation.

Cooldown : 140/120/100

#Secret Interaction If Wolf(W) kills Diana, the wolf turns into Hati, changing all names to "Hati" in tooltips. If Wolf(W) kills Leona, the wolf turns into Sköll, changing all names to "Sköll" in tooltips. If Wolf(W) kills Olaf, the wolf turns back into Fenrir, changing all names to "Fenrir" in tooltips. Eating Diana/Leona/Olaf while already in Hati/Sköll/Fenrir form will net a bonus stack.
