Official Rules for the Competitive Draft Racing League
Hello all, I'm a regular throughout the custom game community. Here are my rules for playing Draft Racing. The goal of the game is to score points by suiciding into the enemy fountain laser.
- This game is a 5v5 on Summoner's Rift
- Champ Select is in Draft mode
- First team to score 10 points wins
- If both teams score their 9th point within 15 seconds of each other, and neither team achieves 10 points prior to both having 9, the game is declared a tie.
- Getting killed by the enemy fountain laser grants 1 point.
- If the laser shows up to hit you, you are granted 1 point, regardless of anything else. Laser=Point.
- You can only get 1 point per time you are alive. Getting hit multiple times by the fountain laser before dying will not give additional points, and your point will not be scored until you are dead.
- Clones (such as Leblanc passive, wukong clone, or Shaco ult) and after-death revives (such as Yorick ult and Sion passive) do NOT count.
- Revive effects (such as Zilean ult, Anivia passive, and Aatrox passive) DO count.
- Bloblets from Zac may score as normal. He may still only score one point per time he is alives. Reviving from his passive does not count as a separate time alive.
- You are not allowed to kill jungle monsters
- You are not allowed to kill Lane minions
- You are not allowed to leach EXP from minions that are dying in lane. That is, if minions are dying you may not be in EXP range of them.
- The Teleport and Cleanse summoner spells are not allowed.
- You may pass through mid lane assuming there are no enemy minions nearby.
- You may not hide in the side lane bushes.
- You MAY NOT run away from combat to your inner or outer turrets. You MAY run from combat into your inhibitor or Nexus turrets.
- Twisted Fate, Tahm Kench, Pantheon, Nocturne and Shen may not use their ultimates to enter to enemy base. They MAY use their ults to other locations.
- Bard is permanently banned from the game.
- Mejai's Soulstealer, the Dark Seal, Sword of the Occult, Banner of Command, Zz'rot Portal, Elixir of Ruin, and Guardian Angel are not allowed.
- You may defend your base from enemy minions. You may walk up to the edge of the steps in order to farm minions and gain EXP. However, you may not leave the base to farm for any reason, even as a melee champion.
- You are not allowed to attack Turrets, Inhibitors, or the enemy Nexus.
- While you may not assist your minions by enhancing them, killing enemy minions that are not attacking your inhibitor turret or in your base, or attacking enemy structures, if your minions destroy an enemy inhibitor prior to the conclusion of the game either through normal point scoring or through an infraction ending, you win the game.
- Players are allowed to swap between roles freely. That is, there are no defined positions, and anyone may perform any legal task at any time.
- There must be two running attempts in which a champion enters the enemy base between 0:00-10:00, 10:01-20:00, and each 10 minute window thereafter, as long as the game continues. That is, one or more champion(s) from each team MUST reach the enemy base a total of 2 times every ten minutes.
I'll quickly outline the punishments for breaking the rules now:
- Getting exp from jungle creeps is neutralized by the enemy team taking the same camp(s) on the opposite side. If a single player takes more than 1 entire camp or more than 5 individual monsters, the game will immediately end.
- Getting exp from minions is neutralized by the offending player dying intentionally to the enemy team. If an enemy gains more than one level, they must die twice. More levels than 2 from leaching will result in the end of the game.
- A player that buys a banned item must sell it immediately. If they gain any kills or assists while in possession of this item, they must intentionally feed a number of kills equal to the sum of these assists and kills. If they score a point while in possession of an illegal item the point does not count. If any player is in possession of an illegal item for 5 cumulative minutes during the game, the game immediately ends.
- If a team fails to run the required amount, they lose 1 point. Failing to run the required amount in 2 consecutive periods ends the game immediately.
- If a player attacks an enemy Inhibitor tower, inner, or outer tower, their team immediately loses 1 point. If a player destroys an inhibitor or attacks 2 or more towers, the game will end immediately.
- If a player attacks a Nexus tower or the Nexus, the game ends immediately.
- If a player takes an illegal summoner spell, they may not use it. Using Teleport or Cleanse will result in -1 game point immediately. 3 uses of an illegal summoner spell will end the game immediately.
- If Bard is selected in champion select, the draft should be restarted. The team that selected Bard loses 1 ban in the next select.
Role Strategy Typically, champions fall into one of three roles: Runners, who attempt to score points, Roamers who roam the jungle trying to catch out enemies and get kills, and Defenders, who try to stop runners from scoring by staying in the base with their CC and damage. Runners need dashes or invlunerability of some kind to be effective. The best runners are also very tanky. Roamers need damage and mobility- CC is a good bonus as well, and a source of vision can be highly useful. Defenders need CC, preferably displacement CC that can force runners into the double Nexus turrets. They also need some build that can give them high damage.
I usually have 1 runner, 2 Roamers, and 2 Defenders on my teams, but this is flexible. Also, roles are not set in stone- Roamers can run, Runners can defend, ect.
Suggested Summoner Spells Runners should take Flash and Ghost. There are no other viable choices.
Roamers have lots of choices: Ignite, Exhaust, Flash, Ghost, and Clairvoyance are all decent choices, in pretty much any combination.
Defenders should all have Exhaust. Their second spell is flexible- ignite, flash, and CV are all decent. Smite can be substituted for exhaust on one defender- build the slowing smite item, and use the smite for the one time buffs from jungle creeps.
Suggested Bans Shaco and Alistar should always be banned. Both of these champs are incredibly powerful. Shaco's boxes make for incredible defense, Alistar has amazing defense early as well as the ability to transition to running with his ult in late game. .
From here, there are lots of ban options. Tryndamere is probably the best all around runner with enormous base health and a strong, low cooldown dash. Lee Sin, Rengar, and many others are strong roamers. Defenders are a little harder to come by- I usually ban out some of these. Strong examples are Maokai with his root and saplings, Naut with his multiple CC forms, Thresh, and Blitzcrank.
