Champion Concept - The Beast Master
I haven't thought out all the details but I have a core concept that I became rather attached to
For a while I thought it would be really interesting to have a champion based around a pet. I don't mean like tibbers, Shaco clones, or Oriana's ball. I mean someone with a permanent pet that sits at the core of their concept that can interact with the environment beyond being just a convoy for abilities.
My concept is a champion with a pet on a chain. This pet is AI controlled but with enough levers for the champion to manage the pet on a fairly fine tuned level when desired. The Champion will be someone with little to no mobility but spells that make the pet mobile. To separate this even further and define its unique role I thought 3 item slots could go to the Master and 3 to the pet(maybe 4/2 or some other combination there of).
The Pet
Make the pet similar to Malzihar's voidlings but more aggressive with the added bonus of adjustable chain length to give you more control of its movements without needing constant micro-management. The pet is highly aggressive to anything in its leash range and has a priority list something like this: anything you AA > champions > Large neutral monsters > small monsters> minions. This gives you a fairly substantial amount of control over its movements and its dmg. Now to keep it from rampaging with no punishment to the caster my thought was to have it's health linked with the Champions. It has its own health bar but when that reaches zero you take 100% of the dmg it receives as back lash. This is where the item split gets interesting. Go tanky with the pet so that the Master can focus on dmg or you can go bruisers for both to spread the type of damage as the Master can cast AP abilities but the Pet can build AD for the AA dmg. the amount of builds this would allow is amazing
The Champion
The core of the Master is a non-mobile post for the pet to be moved about to act as his damage and ability conduit. The Master is a ranged AP control mage. The Master's abilities move the pet around but to allow for some measure of counter play to the mobile pet the master cant move the pet if it is CC'd. This allows you to pin down the pet to kill the master if he gets to aggressive or keep the master from casting his abilities. The Master has no built in escape or strong kiting CC and is far weaker in close combat. The Master works best at the back lines to stay safe and repositions his pet around a fight.
Kit Concept
I am not set on this kit nor do I feel like it is the best for him. merely something to give you an idea of how I wish for him to play
Q - Chain Length
This is a simple, free, no CD ability that allows him to designate the length for the chain with passive combat steroids. it could ether be a toggle between max AA range for this champ and something short like 100-200 range or a ground targeted distance set when cast. The passive buffs would level with the rank of the abilities and allow the pet to move fast enough that he has no need for boots.
The range of the chain could also dictate the way the pet fights similar to jinx or udyr. short chain is defensive and long is aggressive (thanks Thelmon for the stance idea)
W - Throw/Blast
If the pet is at a short range this ability is Throw. The beast master takes the pet and fires him in a straight line skill shot originating from the Master's position. the first target hit is dealt magic dmg from the master, AD from the Pet's bite, and some form of CC is applied.
If the pet is far ranged the beast master causes a blast to emanate from his pet (pet jumps and slams down, magic fired down the chain, something like that) causing AOE magic dmg and possibly some from of weak CC (something AD from the pet should go here but I'm not sure how)
E - Marked
The pet receives some form of damage steroid (ap dmg on hit/consumption) vs a marked target (mark is applied via some spell from the caster. skill shot or targeted). The marked target is top priority for the pet.
I'm not sure exactly if this is what I want here or if the above will work, ill update if someone has a good idea or I think of something. Should be some form of damaging ability to reward the Master for building AP but I don't know anything beyond that.
R - Fuse
Master and beast fuse into some humanoid monster with the use of all 6 items and are similar to Valor. Become melee and get a small variation on all abilities.
Q - Combat steroid
W - Leap + AOE landing dmg
E - target an enemy to have extra dmg on hit/consumption of mark
R - end early. don't know if any extra effects should be here or not. if so I don't really have ideas...
This form should have hybrid scaling to make use of the AD from the pet and AP from the Master. Could possibly have an AP scaling addition to AA's.
When master and pet spilt they appear in the same way Shaco splits into a clone, they appear side by side.
I feel like the item split and pet management make this a hard champ to pick up but I'm not sure if its to difficult or not. Let me know what you all think of this concept and if you have any kit changes/recommendations. this isn't meant to be a finished product with set damage, CD's and costs I just wanted to talk about he concept and see if its liked.
