Viktor comic - Becoming the Herald

Hello everyone, the first part of my comic is finally published! Take a look at it here: http://becoming-the-herald-comic.tumblr.com

It will feature the Machine Herald as the main character, giving a bit different perspective than it's usual, on certain events from the lore. It will feature many other champions as well of course, though I find it funny that Jayce's lore will be shown in whole, and it will take just a part of the comic! I set out to do both characters justice, and I hope the story will be one hell of a ride!

+1, Jayce is an absolute shitter.

Very similar to something I wrote. Love seeing Viktor as more the tragic anti-hero than the mustache twirling villain. At least I -hope- this is where it's going.

You are correct! The entire intro up to the last two pages was in fact, ironic.

Everyone knows the story, as it is suggested in the beginning. But few are actually interested in looking behind Jayce's big headlines of how he defeated an evil-cyborg-overlord-wannabe. There is much more to this story, and I'm on my way of shining a spotlight on it! Could we read somewhere your written story?

Why the fuck do people hate on Jayce? Viktor stole his work, he went to get it back and suddenly he is the bad guy for it?

Because a lot of us (OP included) believe Jayce isn't telling the whole story or """his""" version of it.

Thanks! I am aware that there is indeed some hate between the mains of both characters, and this comic will not be tied to that, not by a long shot. I will actually try to tell a fulfilling story, in which every character will have their story justly depicted. The catch is that it won't be presenting Jayce in a bad way, but expose Viktor as not such a flat villain most people see.

Fair enough. Even though i believe that Jayce's lore is accurate, we dont know what led Viktor to actually steal from him. He is far from being a bad person and legitimately wants to help humanity.

I was just a bit worried about this being a Viktor-wanking comic. Although i much prefer Vik, i do have to admit i was a bit worried for Jayce's depiction.

With that said, it is clear you are putting considerable effort into this, and it certanly feels like you, indeed, wish to make it fair for both champions.

Keep up the great work, i am looking forward what comes next.

Well, we do know why Viktor stole it. It's simply an amazing power source that could increase his 'Glorious Evolution' production rate(?) or really help it out.

Which I don't think makes him a bad guy, honestly. Viktor honestly believes that turning everybody into a machine is going to be better, likely because of Professor Stanwick Pididly. He stole VIktor's credit for Blitzcrank, because of his human emotions like greed, envy, etc. Viktor was like, "Well shit, those are overrated emotions, let's have them fuck off" and so it was.

For a robot, he handled it pretty well in my opinion:

"Can I have that power source?"

"No."

Hum, just wanna point out a mistake.

In your introduction you say ''without further adieu'' which... makes no sense. Adieu is a French word, it means ''Goodbye'' or ''Farewell''. The proper expression is ''Without further ado''.

For one I want to say I have been a fan of your art for quite a while. As a fellow Viktor main it's always good to see someone who shares the same ideals when it comes to his lore. This comic looks like a masterpiece and it deserves WAY more attention than its getting. + 1 for being fucking amazing in every regard. Keep up the good work bud.

Why does this not have more upvotes?! It has the three things a League player could ever want: story, art, and Viktor. What more could you want?

That being said, I love all of your works, but especially those pertaining to the Machine Herald, in addition to reading your theories on his history, character, and interests. To say you are an inspiration for me would be a vast understatement. I wish you the best in completing your comic and look forward to reading each release.

Thank you Superb Villain, though I absolutely wasn't expecting that! That means a lot to me, know that the inspiration is mutual.

I'm sad that just a small number of people are gathering, I have no idea why it didn't catch fire. Or at least a flame. Nonetheless, I can't wait to finish the next part, especially since I am eager to start working on world building and character analysis.

I guarantee you, this - if you release the comic all at once, the forums will explode. Be careful dishing out regular updates - too much of a taste, and people might not react as fanatically as I do every time a Viktor search for any posts within the past 24 hrs comes up with something lore or art-related. ;p

I'd be extremely happy if I was able to mass-produce art like that, but sadly I can't. So know that the comic chapters will come out sporadically, like, hopefully, big splashes in a pond.

I quite like the premise of this, I am a Viktor Main/Lore nerd and will be waiting attentively for the continuation.

Just one thing: Viktor's dialogue so far seems just a teeny weeny touch too 'normal'. Like how he says, "Nothing will be easy for me, eh?"

It isn't phrased a whole lot like his in-game quotes, and it gives him just a tad too much humanity for my understanding. I know he has some humanity left, but not quite that much.

Besides that, I like the idea, and I'd suggest that if you show the inside of his lab in detail at one point, you should totally add some blueprints on the walls of crude battlecast skins or something.

I quite like how people have a misrepresented idea of Viktor in game, but it did seem to leak out a bit out-of-game, which is sad.

The Machine Herald is far from a normal human, and rest assured that will be depicted in full. When it comes to the dialogue, having him scream all the time "THE GLORIOUS EVOLUTION WILL PREVAIL! JOIN THE GLORIOUS EVOLUTION!" etc. might be overwhelming for a comic in which he will be the main character - he needs more dimension to his personality, and the quotes in-game are larger than life, in order to attract players. He is not completely emotionless, and that gives just the right amount of charm for him to take the central stage. You'll see what I have in mind, when I manage to publish the next parts. After all, a "madman" is more scary when he just at certain times slides into his delusions, instead of being outright crazy all the time. Not implying that Viktor is a complete madman, of course. Riot said that they actually want to keep him as a possibly redeemable character! But to be honest, I'd hate to see him give up on the Evolution.

His lab will appear in the comic, both the inside and the outside, being one of the places in which a lot of action will take. I have to tell you, I can't wait to draw it! Viktor's "horrifying brilliance" will certainly show there!

In-world, I like the fact that everyone sees him as a villain. But I'm sad that the people of the real world are taking the same view.

The Machine Herald himself has given you his blessing and approval to depict his glorious background and rise to prominence. Do not shame The Evolution.

Ugh, and here I was hoping for a Maokai x Nami fanfic.

I mean, nothing particularly intimate - just 300+ stilled images of Maokai waiting to be watered, then the awesome finale in which Nami uses her W to do precisely that.

Sigh

I guess a comic featuring robots and deluded heroes pitted against one another in a world gone mad will just have to do.

Incidentally, should we be expecting Urgot cameos? Dare I suggest - an appearance from the great and clearly honest + misunderstood Stanwick Pididly (stealing science from the rich and giving it to the poor)?

My hopes now set to suitably unrealistic and, above all, absurd standards, I can't wait for the next installment.

Yes, in fact, Urgot and Stanwick Pididly (Stanwidly, as his students call him, whoops spoiler!) will most certainly be featured in the comic. Nothing is too absurd to be told in a story!

I might be in minority,but i never really saw Viktor as a villain nor as a hero...it all depends about individual perspective,so he is more of a anti-hero to me....also awesome looking comic mate! (SVAKA CAST!) :) it reminds me of another Viktor vs Jayce comic ive seen long time ago,where Viktor was depicted as a man who doesnt force people into his glorius evolution,calling the method of forcing people into doing something "barbaric"
