Why is CLG going to Worlds and IMT is not?

The title says it. IMT had a way better record than CLG. I am excited C9 made it to worlds, but I want all the best NA teams there and I think IMT is far superior to CLG.

Can someone explain?

CLG has more Championship Points (Spring Split +Summer Split) than Immortals. TSM won Summer, so they automatically qualify. The final slot is decided in the gauntlet. Since Immortals did not win that they do not get to go this year.

To put it simply, CLG won the Spring Split.

Immortals are great when the pressure is off and they get to (skip and play and have fun and be best buddies in the flower pit) but when they enter the Playoffs even with High Playoff seeds like 1st place and 2nd place where they ONLY need to win ONE series to be in finals they fail.

They might be a GREAT team but when they play the games that really matter they Fail.

Without looking at the stats, it probably is because CLG won more games than IMT / made it farther up the ladder.

no champion points since they did well the split before and did not fail this split so they get in that way

That doesn't make any sense. It should be the top 3 teams currently, not some has beens. IMT should be in worlds not CLG. :(

The whole year matters, not a few weeks. Haven't you ever seen an NBA/NFL team fuck up the last few weeks of games and still do really well in playoffs?

Agree it was so annoying in the past where Riot had a Spring Split that was 100% USELESS to watch or for players to really be apart of as it didn't mean Shitt to win. Spring in the past was really a Split to not get relegated that was about it. Now it whole year matters and Riot rewards which ever team actually plays to win for the Full year.

While CLG isn't the strongest team and they did lose to IMT 3-2 with 3 games being VERY CLOSE I still 100% think CLG EARNED their World Spot cause unlike Immortals they showed up in the Playoffs and ACTUALLY WON a Finals.

Then IMT should've made it to the finals of playoffs. 1st seed Spring, 2nd seed Summer, both times they don't make it to the finals despite "having the better record". They can only blame themselves for not showing up where it mattered most. Plus, it took them 5 games to beat those "has beens" who've had their worst performance since the departure of Link, and IMT only looked notably better in the 5th game. The "has beens" who didn't even look like the 4th strongest team throughout the split, and it took 5 games for IMT to beat them?! "Far surperior" is a bit of a stretch at this point.

As an IMT fan, I'm actually kind of fine with the fact they aren't going, but I am a little upset that Cloud 9 got 3rd seed rather than 2nd. Yes, CLG definitely earned their spot, but I think seeding for Worlds should be based off of recent performance. Personally, I'd like to see the gauntlet slightly changed so it includes the team with the most championship points (besides the Summer Split winner who would get the 1st seed). Place them at the top of the gauntlet so they still will have a spot at Worlds, but a team could fight for the 2nd seed, but this is simply an idea and probably a flawed one, but it's something I'd be interested in seeing nonetheless.

TSm qualified by winning summer split, CLG 2nd seed because they had the most championship points (10 or 20 more than IMT i think) and C9 won the gauntlet.

Let's be honest, IMT is great in regular season, but i didn't want them to represent us to world.They mess up when it matters.

How exactly is it better to send CLG? They lost to a team that chokes in high pressure games. Sure they did great at MSI but that doesnt really mean much when you compare where they were then to where they are now. Then: They went to MSI off of winning spring split where they had looked good (#2 going into playoffs). Now: They are going into worlds off of taking 4th place in a split that was aweful (#4 going into playoffs, and up until week 6 it looked like they were going to relegations).

You also have to remember that while CLG was looking shaky this split, they spent most of the important time to adapt to the new patch at the MSI, winning us a first seed.They kept getting better as the slit advanced,

Coming from someone that doesn't particulary like CLG, i think my opinion should be worth a little something ;)

The importance of the match wasnt/shouldnt be the point. The point I was making was in reference to your original statement: "Let's be honest, IMT is great in regular season, but i didn't want them to represent us to world.They mess up when it matters." I would rather have IMT (The most dominant team in NA) represent the region than CLG, the team that acomplished the bare minimum this split to go to worlds.

Just a reminder, even the analysts were saying that the "haven't had enough time to adjust to the patch" excuse was no longer valid around week 3. Sure, at MSI they kept getting better as the slit advanced, but the same cannot be said about their summer split.

IMT choke under high pressure (sounds like nerves)
CLG werent able to adapt to a patch for 3 weeks, not counting the 2 week grace period (sounds like they dont know how to adapt to their opponents)

I'm not a fan of either team, CLG earned their spot but they certainly dont deserve it as much as IMT.

I think our best shot at world was obviously P1.

Phoenix 1 first seed, TSM second and C9 last.

P1 won against TSM so they obviously earned the first seed right?

(Joke aside i would've been really happy to see those 3 teams at world even if P1 would've been destroyed)

CLG has better leadership I think. They have breathing room now to stop, access the current meta, and adapt to it. After MSI they were thrown right back into matches while all the other teams had a chance to take a break and evaluate how to adapt. I think CLG will actually be really strong at Worlds this year. Having said all that, I'm still rooting for C9. They're slaughtered IMT twice when it counted, and could have taken TSM had Meteos and Jensen not tilted (still not sure what that was about). C9 is a real threat.

i think its bs that it works that way, you guys keep saying how imt isnt good enough for worlds but where has TSM OR CLG OR EVEN C9 win a worlds.. exactly give other teams a chance to try cause those NA teams just keep failing
