I'll be honest. I don't watch the tournament play. I don't have a particular interest in it.
HOWEVER.... I see so many horribly abrasive posters here. I'm not particularly a verbal saint myself, and lose myself in the heat of the moment, but this is an entirely different level of toxic I'm seeing.
I know some people may feel that tournaments may not be worth their salt and only the best team deserves praise, but that's simply not fair or true to other competitors.
These players treat the game they love the same as someone would treat football (either one) or Basketball, or the Olympics: It is a finite chance to define themselves within a realm of fans and peers. If any of you have ever played a competitive sport, did you appreciate the coach or fans who criticized and yelled and screamed at you and focused on a mistake, or did you appreciate the coach or fans who observed you for the purpose of "fun?"
There's only one slot in a winning circle. But that doesn't mean that people who get close should not be praised as well. That's called good sportsmanship.
