I'm working on a research paper about the eSports community and would love your help! Let me know some things that you think is appealing to people in the eSports community. What brings the people of this community together? What does the community value as a whole?

Here are some examples of folklore you could talk about. (If you want to talk about something else that's encouraged as well) · Stories · Jokes · Group sayings or chants · Articles of clothing, especially uniforms · Symbols, icons, or logos · Ceremonies or performances

Let me know some things that you think is appealing to people in the eSports community. What brings the people of this community together?

I think the thing that brings esports fans together can be boiled down to what brings fans of any spectator sport together, really. A common interest, sense of companionship and community, team loyalty, rivalries, other stuff I can't seem to place off the top of my head-- but i'm sure you get the picture.

That being said there's certainly a very different culture surrounding esports as opposed to traditional sports. You can find that pretty much everywhere though, from the way the shoutcasters speak, twitch chat, and League's community in general.

Some notable things from the list you mentioned:

-Jokes are everywhere, quick google searches my dude

-Crowds have in the past tended to cheer on the clearing of wards, always found that pretty interesting.

-Uniforms and merchandising are everywhere

-As far as ceremonies and performances go Riot seems to want to make every year of worlds more of a spectacle than the last. This year's performance with all the dancers in champion-themed masks and the 'live' appearance of the Elder Dragon are particularly noteworthy.

Really, just do a couple good hours of research into this yourself, I'm sure you can find a lot more info, just sayin'
