I'm working on a research paper for college about the gaming community/eSports Community. I would really appreciate it if you all can help me out. Do me a favor and answer a few of these questions.

How did you hear about this community? When/How old were you when you joined? What's your favorite part of being in this community? What would you like a new member to know about this community?

Thank you to everyone who answers, AdverbialNormal

  1. don't remember probably word of mouth 2)24 3)That despite numerous arguments over contentious subjects. I still see the same faces on the boards Talking it out and arguing for the same thing. " How to make this game better"

Out perceptions are different but the goal is the same. That's what I love

  1. there are champions in this game you should not play,( not because they are bad) because there are a list of champions who will be Neglected for years to come. Don't play unless you can bear the depression/ heart ache and frustration.

How did you hear about this community?

I heard about the community when I was well into enjoyment of the fighting game community. It was sometime after EVO 2013 - regarded as the biggest fighting game tournament event of the year - I acknowledged my brother playing League. In the process, we both wound up watching the Season 3 World Championships. Ever since, I installed, gave the game a try, surpassed my brother in skill, and just enjoyed what I could of the competitive League.

When/How old were you when you joined?

For League in particular, I've been around since Worlds 2013. For esports and competitive gaming in general, 2009 ish among fighting games; I remember watching EVO when Vanilla Street Fighter 4 was hot.

What's your favorite part of being in this community?

I enjoy seeing the dreams realized. It makes me wonder whether or not I could ever amount to anything of it. But despite friends telling me I have the potential to be a better gamer, I've just preferred watching the storylines unfold. I do my best to be level about every team and player in any scene and just enjoy the competition.

What would you like a new member to know about this community?

A new person should at the very least know that the best will play the best possible Champions and things may get quite repetitive. To an extent it's no different from numerous same character players in fighting games (5 Cammys in Top 8 or something like that). However, if inspired to play the game or already playing the game, it shouldn't stray you away from playing what you are comfortable with.
