Why would Flyquest pick up Wildturtle?

Fly said they were going to pick up Freeze to replace Altec in the adc slot, but then turtle announced he was leaving TSM and fly immediately picked him up. I'm just wondering why Fly would go with Turtle over Freeze, when it has been blatantly clear that Turtle is not capable of playing at a highly competitive level. Don't get me wrong Turtle is a good player, it just doesn't really make sense for fly to pick them up, when they were already a top-tier na team, and Turtle is not a top-tier ad carry. He was just a placeholder for TSM while Doubleplug was gone, and isn't really much of an improvement over Altec in my opinion. So if they are looking to make a jump from a 4th place team to a 2nd or 1st, then why go with an adc who is hardly, if at all, an improvement over the current one? Then again once you hit a certain point in pro play, the lines are really blurred between each player's particular level of skill, so it's kinda hard to tell who is better. Maybe there was just something on TSM and Immortals that was holding Wildturtle back from performing at his peak? Who knows maybe Fly will bring out the better in him, and he will no longer be wandering aimlessly around during team fights. (That's a joke btw, so put your white knight sword back in its sheathe).

Lmao did you just say wild turtle is not good enough to be playing on the competitive play

What half ass statement is that. He has the stats, and career to back that up.

Well, maybe Freeze didn't want to play with Flyquest. And Turtle is probably an upgrade over Altec.

While Fly certainly has top-tier TEAM play, their laning was pretty awful. Altec had the second-lowest CSD@10. Balls was third-worst behind zig (While Balls is able to dominate with a lead, he's generally unable to create the lead by himself). And this is including the fact that Hai spent large amounts of time roaming to the side lanes to help them (which led to a fourth-worst CSD for Hai).

Now, maybe some of it is lane matchups from the draft. I remember those Mordekaiser/Blitzcrank games, which have poor lane pressure. Hai likes to play assassins, which tend to have weak lane phases against the control mages that Jensen enjoys playing. But at the end of the day, Flyquest will not be able to repeat their success if they always have 2 losing lanes. You could see the season turn from good to bad the moment teams changed their thought process from "What the hell, they're on Baron?" to "Baron's spawned, Hai probably wants to do that". It just isn't a sustainable game plan.

Edit: Fixed some stats

Is his over aggression that much of a warning flag that any team he goes on is in such jeopardy? While he may be trigger happy, he's clutch. And regardless of selection between Turtle and Freeze, he's had existing teamwork with members of FLY (specifically Hai).

Echo back to IMT, people got alarmed for the same thing and while that did not net them the best results based off of regular season power...twice, it can hardly be a routine burn at the stake of Turtle's rep. To say he's not capable of playing on the highly competitive level sounds false. It is more like he's not capable of playing on TSM's competitive standard than anything.

Not playing at a highly competitive level? Please stop being completely silly.

the adc upgrade is minor and not what they should be focusing on. They have a true liability in balls, in the top lane. Top lane is the most stacked and they field a really poor laner when they should be using the scouting department and possibly an import slot on the position.

look at turtles performance outcside of TiltSM and you have your answer. he is shackled in TSM.

I mean freeze hasn't really proven to be better than doublelift either

It was said that they did not come to terms with Freeze, that is probably why they went for Turtle

Lmfao. Yeah turtle is straight garbage, thats why TSM gladly took him back when Doublelift took a split off. I always come to the boards for my in depth analysis of pro player power instead of trusting the organizations themselves to know what is best for themselves...

Wild turtle is better than Freeze and Altec. Say what you will, but they guy is a proven winner. There's more to a player than stats. If stats were all that counted then Piglet would have already carried Liquid to a world slot at the very least.

Hai-Lemon and Turtle all played together back in Season 2/2012 on Quantic Gaming. The team finished pretty much where FQ ended last split around that 4th place // 3rd/4th best team in NA very similar to CLG last year. Altec has his issues and advantages and Turtle has his.

Altec is a better farmer than Turtle, but at the same time Altec has no real teamfight skill whats so ever, while Turtle has some. We've seen 2 sides of Turtle over the years. We've seen what the "Wild" Turtle can do; similar to say a grenade he can do lots of damage and possibly take out 2-3 people but goes down in the process or the second Turtle that plays with TSM around 40 min games with no'one on the team wanting to do anything.

Flyquest was the perfect team for Turtle and Turtle was the right ADC for them. There's a reason why even after all Turtle has been said about, in his career and in the 2017 Spring Split that FQ would rather have Turtle over Altec, because he's better than Altec in pretty much every way.
