Why haven't any esports legends such as Faker released their own apparel collab?

Jordan and Kanye can literally just slap their names on things and it can be worth over $1000. With how much all those rich Chinese and Korean kids spend their money I'm surprised no one's jumped on milking those famous Korean and Chinese esports names yet. The only thing I see those rich asian exchange students at my school do is play and watch LoL or Starcraft and waste money.

Actually I think BrTT from Pain gaming started his own brand after becoming a famous league player.

Probably partly due to the fact that esports is still fairly new to many. Jordan is undoubtedly a huge name that everyone knows because Basketball has become well known as a sport. Faker is a star in the League community, but if you mentioned Faker to someone outside of the League community, the response would probably be "Who's that?" I'm sure that he's probably selling things in Korea that we don't know about, but even if he isn't it could just simply be that it's never crossed his mind.

Its just crazy to think that no big company has tried partner up with these players. It doesn't even have to be apparel, it could be a signature keyboard or mouse. Even skateboarders and park skiers have their own signature equipment and apparel and those are a very very niche sports.

If it helps, the actual teams usually have sites in which you can buy their jerseys and stuff. Actual clothing though would be a high risk with minimal reward, as noone even knows if "esports" is gonna be around in 5 years. For all we know it could be another gaming phase, like the mmorpg era or the handheld era.

The players in Korea and China are technically owned by their organization (Faker to SKTelecom). They may appear in commercials from time to time but the proceeds go to SKT not Faker.

NBA partners, what is their slogan its that ( Play 60) I can see it now ( Play 60...... ON A COMPUTER ALL DAY BABY ! )

On a real note most of the Sport Companies, Ads, Markets, and other big names Partners don't know what computer games have to do with anything that involves a "Sport" So the already well know sports Companies and other brands( Nike-Sprite-Footlocker- etc will also not form with the Esports scene if the NBA-NHL-NFL and other major sport scenes won't as the ADS will lose their milk and butter money from those already established companies.

Its only been 4-5 years professionally for the LOL E-Sports scene so just give it time. Alot of people this is just another faze, that will go away.

The ads and companies that I do see forming with the LOL scene somewhere down the future ( HOPEFULLY ) Maybe ( SOUR PATCH KIDS) ( NETFLIX) ( COCA-COLA) Sour patch kids can show the league players before and after good-bad things i don't know. Netflix can show the regions and the seasons of the leagues Coca-Cola can show pictures of the players and their names, instead of showing randoms names.

Just my thoughts Have a Good One !

Coca Cola is already sponsoring and has sponsored several events for LoL (2014 World Championships was sponsored by them, and this upcoming LCK Summer Split is also being sponsored by them). Also I doubt Nike, Footlocked, etc would ever form with the Esports scene... what would they use players that have nothing to do with running to advertise? More than likely we'll see the gaming/computer companies such as Razor start to sign players to sponsor them and such (technically, all we really need is for Esports to become a major thing that is shown on TV consistently, and they'll probably be willing to start funding ads of the players using their equipment on those channels).

The other thing to take into consideration is the fact that TV may be dying out to the internet, Netflix, and whatever else there is (Too many ads for too long compared to being able to watch a 25 min show in 30 minutes, while on TV ~22 minutes of a show turns into a fucking hour). So perhaps ads on the internet and streams will be more important than actual TV ads (especially considering gamers probably spend more time on their computers watching streams/streaming themselves instead of watching TV).

Like a say football club from Europe?

A German football team schalke now has their own esports teams and many are now paying players (gamers) to play Fifa competitively on pro circuits.

And Coca Cola, red bull etc are already sponsoring league events

It's slowly happening
