RNG was 2-0 against TSM, since they have the better record against TSM, they're allowed to advance.

Not really. If your team shows that they are without question better than another team, and you two somehow tie, then why exactly should they have a tiebreaker? If your team wins, you're 3-0 and don't prove anything. If your team loses, then you're still 2-1 vs them and can still argue that you're better than them even with that loss.
