Is it me or riot never releases a champion/rework balanced?

Not here to scream OP OP OP. Just here to point out that the patch after a new/rework champ is released they get tweaked. Some with ridiculous values on scaling, base values (Jinx Gangplank ). Some are Underpowered (Bard damn near no one was using him until he got buffed). Every new champ is either Overtuned or underpowered. And there theres aatrox. Was ok on release , and now he's rarely played.

There's over a hundred champions. How the hell could you possibly suggest that a release even could be balanced?

To be fair, Bard is very hard to play so people just hadn't learned him yet since people would accuse you of trolling if you used your ultimate on them incorrectly. Not to mention Bard was the first champion to directly be able to screw over an ally. Also, you can likely thank that to the other PBE testers. Just went on the PBE to try out a Tank for the rework, you know what every other champion was? Not a reworked Tank or even a tanky Fighter. We got a Tryndamere, Riven, Gangplank, and Warwick, all with their highest priced skins, but we didn't have a single tank other than arguably a Support Nunu.

bard isn't underpowered and he hasn't been underpowered since the first buffs he got. he got buffed to appease bad players

balance is impossible to get right the first time. too many variables at play

I think that Jhin was kind of balanced at release. People were just crying because it was 100% champion's fault if they could't do shit so Riot decided to buff him.

As for reworks, Sion and Yorick were somehow balanced. Maybe a bit weak, but definitely on the balanced side.

I want to see you creating a champion with all these numbers, gameplay interactions, item interactions, mastery interactions.... Do you know how many variables this game has?

There is no way to completely predict how a new champion will turn out in the end. Maybe someone finds a combination no one was thinking of? The design team doesn't include the most skilled players in the world, maybe the champion has more potential than assumed if someone is playing him on extreme levels?

Sometimes you get lucky and are able to get the champ exactly on point. Kled was that case in my opinion. He was never really a balance problem, balanced from the very beginning. But you can't demand that will work all the time.

If Riot releases a new champion, and then changes nothing, then you know something is wrong. Also, Aatrox was not ok on release. He was stupid on so many levels. He was so stupid he was picked in the LCS.

Changes to a champion often involve formulaic tinkering on a decimal level. The problem this creates is that if they were to change one champ, they have to consider how it works with all of the other champions, the map and its monsters, how it effects the champion from early to late game, etc. If they were to simply adjust as they went along on a regular basis, the thought put into it would be shirked on an even more crude level, which is just asking for more problems than it'd be worth.
