Why is Zed still in the pro meta?

He hasn't won a single game in a long ass time, considering there's pretty much only 5v5 teamfights anymore and all of his damage is negated by a well placed Binding, Charm, etc. Even if he gets fed early, he can't find picks unless the rest of his team somehow absorbs all the focus (which is unlikely, considering his ult automatically makes him the easiest target).

It's because he's the most reliable assassin. You can blow everything and still be safe.

Zed is a safe mid pick, but assassins in competitive are bad picks anyways.

Zed split still seems to do decent work.

Because all other ad assassins suck (talon is useless and yas isnt technically an assassin)

Zed is still super strong but people have learned that you need to take counters or zeds will just faceroll your squishies and there's nothing you can do. He's definitely a great last pick if the team comp is going your way.

Because people revert to their comfort picks

Very few people, (including professional NA players) can play Zed as well as Dade, Faker or Apdo so off the bat they're at a disadvantage when it comes to usefulness

A less consistent, less-amazing Zed is unsurprisingly not a huge issue to deal with most of the time.

The only thing I'm thinking of is something that never happens- A Zed builds IE-youmus or IE-SOTD, gets his late game and obliterates targets. That never happens though, most people don't go that IE/youmus or IE-SOTD, (from what I've watched in games and professional games) probably because of the ramp up time required for it. With a IE-SOTD or IE-youmus build, Zed has a lot of damage late game, and with a SOTD he'll be almost always guaranteed to kill an ADC whether they have QSS or not, but Zed still doesn't have the best team fight, even if he does have one of the highest damage most expensive builds available.
