AbiwonKenabi2 votesI will admit that initially, based on their performance in group stage, it felt like NA sent the wrong team. TL needed more crazy aggression earlier, and both TSM and C9 have been playing that way for a while now. But TL really surprised me (and many others); they managed to turn it around had a great series. The casters in the post series discussion had a good point, too: IG took a game and had some good plays, this was not a 3-0 IG choke, this was TL playing very well, bouncing back and adjusting their play from their rough group stage.

And as far as I could tell, I was one of the only vocal users being fucking calm about it! Liquid wins: Alright. Liquid loses: Alright. That was me.
So to see these comment expectations as expressed in MakJuice's prediction thread get pretty blown up. After having to hear casters tout the "impossible" card time and time again. I could give no damn if you're an EU or KR fan that doesn't like NA winning.
This isn't me riding TL's coattails to the championship however. This is me saying let the tournament happen for the team, then be a mope about it.

That said, I've also thought for years that we (as a region) suck at Bo1s and had a much better chance at Bo5s. I don't know what it is, I assume our teams don't wanna spend days researching the other teams before the tourney starts. We generally adjust well, but we come in bad so now that we can adjust to things in-game, that's working!
GeminiRune1 votesIt's fine that a lot didn't believe. Hell I was on the 5-games to IG side of the coin. Where I don't like to dig into a lot is past performance as a collective region. Fan dig into that and somehow forget CLG the same way Spawn did. That makes it equate to the failure of one team being the failure of every team.
Flip the coin though and you see IG play scrappy; the same way they have since their 18-1 splits last year. I don't even say they really underperformed. They just got beat. The same things they did in Group stage and that's really it.
Win or lose on the final - and I really hope it's NA vs EU cause I wanna see these boards explode - I'm hoping fans are content with this.
ChompyWulf1 votesMy posts tend to generalize NA flops in the past, but it was also a matter of who. Frankly I've never thought Impact was an amazing great. He got a Worlds trophy when SKT prioritized getting him the best top pick after bans. He's been wildly inconsistent, having great streaks at the end of a split or groups to then go back to mediocrity. Xmithie I loved on IMT when tank junglers were meta. He has good macro and decent skills, but has never been a great aggressive junglers when it's not a tank meta. Jensen may be best on team, but I remember so many times he wouldnt apply pressure outside his lane when he could. Doublelift...well, he nearly always gets too tilted at international levels and gets caught too much.
I had reason to believe they wouldn't break their habits and past. I was wrong.
I just doubt G2 beats SKT in 5. I seriously think SKT more than anyone was keeping their hand hidden in groups and now we'll see their true strength. We'll just see.
