The point isnt to give the skins away, its to make you want them so when you inevitably dont get them from the pickems, you buy one or two, come on now, don't you know how marketing works?
Its just like the crane game, at any arcade. Sure, it it theorhetically possible to score that playstation portable. but in reality you will only be grabbing air 99% of the time.

And the akin is not expensive to Riot. It has already been developed and designed. At worst it means that player wont purchase that skin again, which is a few dollars but not kncredibly expensive. They already show they are giving out skins in chests. It doesnt hurt them to give a skin out to a few players for these events. Instead it is just an icon among the tens of icons they give.

The skins that they are giving out are expensive. The game of pickems does have a purpose. Its a little thing just for fun because why not? People always talk about who they think will win so Riot decided to allow us to have pickems so that we could see who was right. The also decided to be generous and add prizes. The skins are expensive to Riot they pay someone to design them so that they can sell them to the community to support the free to play game. They give out all 4 ultimate skins to whoever gets all the teams correct. That is $100 worth of skins per winner. That can be a lot of money depending on how many win. This year their will probably only be one or two though. Yes they give out skins in chests but their are reasons for that. 1. It rewards you for not being toxic. 2. It rewards you for playing well. 3. People purchase crates/keys so they get more money overall even by giving an average of 2 crates a week to each player. Especially when the crates give champions and icons not just skins. Why are you complaining that Riot is giving away free stuff? You are such a baby. Youre crying because Riot doesnt give you more expensive free stuff even though you get free crates/keys free Icons and free skins from pickems. You also get free skins via coins that they give you just for playing their game. Its so pathetic. Just be glad you got a free icon and had a chance at a larger prize. I have 0 chance at getting the big prize either but I still create my pick'ems for bragging rights if I get anything correct. To me its a fun little event that I can brag about with the community and on top of it they gave us a little prize for being correct. Its really awesome but people like you have to cry because you didnt win. Grow up.

Look at any draft tournament/event for other sports. Yes, 100% pick gets a prize, but people who came close also get a prize that is better than everyone elses. Other sports drafts are also free to enter, with more generous prizes for the top participants. You can argue LoL is a much smaller sport, but the whole point would be to increase participation in the esports side by watching to see if your picks are correct. I would likely not even be in the running for top16 right now. 30 people are ahead of me, 220 are tied. But it would definitely be more fun. And Riot giving away maybe something like Championship Ashe to Number2-16 wouldn't kill them or their World Championship prize pool of money.

Even if all 30 people got PERFECT pick'ems, $3,600 a lot of money to a normal person. Not even 0.0005% NOT EVEN .0005% of the money from this new esports team. Boy Riot is so generous giving away $120 to the maybe one person who got exactly perfect reads/guesses/luck. They surely can't afford to give out $10 or $5 skins to the top 16. Let us just give everyone another icon.
If you made 3600 a day (good job), it would still take you 2,222 days to pay that upfront fee. 8 years to pay off that 8million upfront fee. Riot can't afford to give out 1 day of an 8year earning to make babies happy! What babies take your scraps and praise us. At this point I should just put TeamNoMid or Cloud9 to win, because all it changes is how much I can brag and rub it in other people's faces with my magnificent icon.

They gave you a free chance to earn skins and you failed. Grow up and move on. I never said Riot was hurting for money but $3600 is $3600 no matter how rich the company. Besides all the money that teams are paying into the LCS is actually going into furthering the LCS there is this really cool article you can read about it if you look for it but I understand what you mean. They can afford it but if Riot just gave free skins to every baby that cries they would be in debt before they know it.

They are making plenty of money with sales of things. And you are right, skins do bring in money for them (obviously a lot see above!!). So if they give out too many free skins, they are losing out... but skins to maybe the top16 people?? will that will put them in debt.
You keep going back to insults because you have no argument. Act all high and mighty, whatever. Riot is being stingy as hell. Riot didn't give anyone a free chance to earn skins, because the likelihood of anyone pulling 100% correct brackets was so small in the first place (again good luck to the 43 people left after 3million failed).
