No need to be salty about the group draw, it's RNG after all.

Lmao No it was not the hardest group The group C9 in was brutal. TSM was favored to be number 1 in their group. That's not hard!

The group C9 was in contained the worst #1 seed, and a completely unproven Chinese team; therefore setting C9 up to be a clear 2nd out of that group, despite coming from pool C. TSM, meanwhile, was placed into the obvious* "group of death", with TSM, SSG, and RNG all cannibalizing each other. Surprisingly, TSM's problem wasn't with the Korean team (they split with SSG), it's that they didn't beat RNG.
Essentially, what it came down to was: 1. Is TSM definitively better than either SSG or RNG? No, and no one was saying they were, everyone thought it was going to be close. or 2. Is C9 definitively better than both iMay and FW? A rookie Chinese team and a representative from the underwhelming LMS which hasn't been globally relevant in a couple years now? Sign me up for some of that.
C9 absolutely had an easier group than TSM did last year, despite being in SKT's group. Why? Because the goal is to simply place in the top 2 and make it out of the Group stage; placing first is just a bonus.
*In hindsight, Group A (ROX, CLG, G2, and ANX) was every bit as much a "group of death" as Group D was.

NeoDeimos1 votesTSM split with WE at MSI (showing that they are certainly capable of beating WE), AND that was with WildTurtle on the roster. TSM's issue at MSI was their inability to close out games (particularly against G2). With LiftLift (and his more aggressive shot-calling, even if he's not the main caller) back in the lineup, they seem much more confident in their ability to shut down the late game while ahead.
If WE makes it out of play-ins and put into group D, it's most certainly not a foregone conclusion WE would take first in the group.

You believe Flash Wolves and iMay were actually TOUGH teams last year? FW may have split vs C9 and SKT, but then sh*t the bed against iMay... while FW was the only team that iMay defeated.
Put it this way: CLG, TSM, and C9 all went 3-3 last year. C9 was the only team that advanced from their group. Why? Because they had the WEAKEST group in comparison. If their group was any tougher, they wouldn't have advanced either. Facts don't lie*

IMT doesn't have the hard group this year. They're potentially in the same position that C9 was; a top 2-3 team in the world, and a bunch of also-rans. They got paired with Gigabyte Marines, a team in a battle with ahq and Misfits for the weakest of the Pool B teams. Even if Longzhu goes 6-0 in the group; unless WE somehow gets placed here, IMT is still the prohibitive favorite to place 2nd and make it past group stage.
