Why is Yuumi banned so much in the LCS?

I don't watch the championships often on League, because I am a new player and I don't really have the biggest interest yet. Although, I do see Yuumi banned almost every game I watched so far. Why is that?

probably because she''s broken?

A support that lets you have 3 agressive summoner spells instead of 2 is broken in pro play and her Q has no counterplay

For one, her Q has basically zero counterplay and deals a crapton of easy poke damage.

Second, because she has no need of flash, she can take heal, allowing her ADC to take teleport to get back to lane (with her attached) to gain an EXP and gold advantage over their opponent.

Because pro players actually coordinate with each other and as a result the Support really only has one job. That is, to Buff/protect the ADC and Yummi does this exteremly well.

Build an Ardent Censor on her and all of the sudden the ADC is getting Attack Damage and Attack Speed from Ardent. Adaptive Force from Yummi herself and I think it's a shield from Yummi's kit and then she has a slow that turns into a stun.

So if you have Yummi on an ADC and two good frontliners in front of them then the other team is going to have so much trouble even getting to the ADC much less killing them.

She's a over powered right now and many teams are still learning how to play against her. So right now it's better to just ban her.

Because you can play anything with her and Yuumi will get her through the lane almost totaly unscaved.

She is pick/ban in the LCS, not in other regions, and in this VOD : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcATRBbqxlc Locodoco explains why. Basically, in the LCS, the meta is really long laning phases into teamfights. That's where Yuumi is strong because she has poke, heal and is a difficult to gank champion paired with sivir or ezreal. In other regions, the laning phase is short and supports roam (Yuumi is shit at that because she is slow and need to roam with adc), games are faster and more explosive so Yuumi doesn't get to have a long laining phase into teamfight, where she shines.

The biggest reason I've seen is that most supports have to put themselves in danger to really do their job optimally.

While you normally focus the AD it is always an option to turn on the support, and can be the right move. Yuumi takes out that option. She can play suicidally aggressive and be immune to punishment.

Also her Q can't really be dodged.

I think there's a few reasons why Yuumi is pick or ban in pro play:

  1. Her Q poke is near undodgeable allowing her to easily stack item 3303, and later stack item 3174 for a decent heal. Since pros are pretty good at avoiding engage threats in the laning phase, like Nautilus, Pyke, and Alistar, she almost has a free laning phase when picked.
  2. Her W is very difficult to play around and makes it so that you have to the kill the ADC first when fighting her, which is much harder to do with the buffs she provides. Her stat bonus passive on her W essentially funnels her gold value into her ADC when attached better than most other enchanters.
  3. Extra pressure with an additional offensive (or defensive) summoner spell at her disposal since she doesn't take summoner 4.
  4. Her R is a pain to dodge with how wide it is and is a nuisance for divers to deal with.

Unkillable, infinite sustain, infinite poke, amazing dive potential, shields that last forever. Literally, item 3303 is a broken item that needs to do more gold and half the damage it gives, do I need to go on?

item 3041

She has safety because she has high mobility. She has decent poke. She has good sustain in laning phase where it's needed the most. An organized team could do some shenanigans with her attaching and ulting (it's less good then a sona ult, but you don't have to wait for her flash to come back up).

All in all she's going to be a permanent pick/ban as long as shes playable at all.
