You deserve nothing earned in prior seasons

**Let's talk precedent. **What other popular pro sport starts players off in the final playoffs regardless of the current season performance? What other pro popular sport starts teams off with a rank advantage, which equates to a win-loss record advantage?

**Let's talk concept. **A season is distinct from other seasons. Your season record is your "season record." That is all. New season. New record. Everyone starts at 0-0.

**Let's talk ambiguity. **An account is not a player, and vice versa. An account might have multiple players, and a player can switch accounts.

**Let's talk fear. **If you are afraid that you will not achieve rank X, then do you really deserve rank X? Prove it. Achieve it again.

The conclusion that we should all share by simple reasoning is that everyone should start at the same mmr/rank, and that provisionals should skew that rating by a greater degree than regular season games. The potential randomization of account ratings because of the irregular apportionment of rating points during the short ten game spread is the second most interesting part of the season, behind the series finale.

If your ego is tied to past seasons, then you need to check yourself.

An account might have multiple players

Which would be a bannable offense...

lol... no no no... People absolutely! need to be right back to the same rank they were last season, aside from the fact that it is an accomplishment that deserves its due recognition... it would put the rest of the people still trying to climb the ladder for the first time (like me and the rest of wood division) at a serious! disadvantage... but I'll get back to that one.

Your pro-sports analogy is well-intended but wholly wrong. We (the LoL community) at large are not "Pros." That would be those guys and teams actually competing in the LCS and guess what? YUP! their records are reset every season, fresh start, fresh rosters, etc... everything. That is NOT you and me... we are a community of gamers who may or may not aspire to that and if I play this game for fun (and I know that is a hard concept for you to grasp all on its own probably) I should not have to play with players WAY above my skill level and make.

It's like... you like football... so you gather a group of your friends and go play, maybe its even an organized league... but then an actual Pro NFL team comes and joins your league and actually competes for the same title or reward you are... LOL no... that would be beyond ridiculous and you know it.

So yes players should absolutely start with their previous attained ranks intact and guess what? if they do not continue to play at that level drumroll they will decline in said rankings.

I think some folks might get turned off by the pointedness of your thread title, but by and large I do agree with you. Each season is distinct. The carryover from the last one comes in the sorts of groups you face off against in the prelim games, so wherever you end up after those is simply where you're starting for the season. If you are as skilled as the previous season would indicate, and as you believe yourself to be, then you should have no trouble climbing back up. So yeah, I agree.
