Hakuho sold his gold income item about half way through the game. Why?

more than likely to have room to buy control wards. I am not searching for the vod but that is my idea why.

this game was about 32 minutes long though, noone but the mid laner was near full build. without his gold income item, i had a control ward, locket, knights vow, and boots. thats why its confusing

He sold item 3097 to get a full completed item 3190 item.
The Targon is ok in lane from my knowledge but that's really about it, if you don't complete the full item within lane phase/pre 20-25 mins it's best to just sell the item as your team won't really give you time to get stacks off for HP as well as teams/players don't really need that 20 hp back from the targons' so it's kinda worthless if not fully completed.
Get gold in which NV were clearly ahead within the first 20 mins anyways, the out of combat stat from Targon was also kinda worthless as NV needed to continue pressuring instead of having Hakuho backing off as the support, so he can get hp regen from the passive/proc. Long story short he sold it for a vision ward as he's #1 in vision for his team in the League as well as a shield that he can press 1 button to save a carry at any given time, instead of a 20 hp item that's 100% worthless.

Ok, all of that makes sense. It just seems weird to sell the only thing that will give a support the extra gold they need since they don't cs, but I suppose if they were so far ahead anyway it didn't matter at that point. Would it have made a difference if they didn't end the game shortly after? what if the game had lasted 15 more minute instead of 7-10, would there be a noticeable weakness in hakuho?

EDIT: because keep in mind, the item gives him passive increased gradual gold income, not just the charges for last hitting minions

Gold income will always be difficult as a support but when ahead any support should take that as a sign to just build/buy/get items for it's benefits according at that specific time. The Gold income is honestly......... just for lane it's income is also..... "meh" 2 gold per 10 secs or 30 armor/40 MR straight up with a 300-400HP shield that with Tahm with an upgraded ward item is much better for scaling health in turn with proc a bigger shield for the locket.

Short OT question, was froggen playing? And if not, do you know why he got benched?

Not sure either honestly, I think EF are just trying out different players while they can for next year, since this split looks like another wash for Echo Fox and I expect Froggen to head back to EU while the getting is good.

I mean.. it took Froggen 2 years to win EU, in NA it's going on 2+ years to even get into playoffs(which he won't) as of right now Yes, I do think Froggen can actually have success in EU. Possibly make the playoffs with a sub-par team/Vitality, Roccat etc, I also think EU right now is fairly weak( NOT GARBAGE) but just weak at the moment and it's a better chance than in NA where he's sniffing around that 9th-10th each year.
