About the Worlds Prize Pool...
Obviously, I could talk about DOTA 2 here, but that isn't the game we all play and love. Instead, I'm going to talk about Albus Nox Luna, the Russian Wildcard.
With the current prize pool at just over $5 million, that leaves good ole' Albus Nox with a Minimum (that is, no one else buys championship Zed or the Ward) of $203K. To put that into perspective, they won around $24K (1,500,000 RUB) from winning the LCL Summer Playoffs. Again, to put that another way, the prize pool for the LCL Summer Playoffs was around $71.5k. (4,500,000 RUB).
So Albus Nox won over double the Tournament Prize pool of their Regions split, minimum. Can we all just take a moment and congratulate them for their performance this year, just one more time? It was a hell of a run. None of this even takes into consideration the money they made off of icon sells this year, which may be as much as CLG (RIP) makes off of icons, seeing as how I've seen so many people with an ANL icon.
