I'm interested to know what it takes to be an LCS player. I don't follow esports all that much, so this might be a dumb question to a lot of people, but what are the stages in competitive league of legends? What happens after you get recruited for a team, and how many tournaments are mandatory to compete in until you're known as an official pro player in league?

Well you can either make your own team and qualify for challenger series. Then get to LCS through that. But next year there will be franchising so challenger series wont matter anymore

It used to be somewhat of a climb to recognition as you assumed. You used to gather a team, compete through a secondary league and win or lose you gain that notice to play among the best. Europe still follows that system for the most part. NA on the other hand is pretty much abolishing that whole secondary league system so it does kind of add up to Yi Shenpai's response.
