REpost: I wish the LCS had the same amount of competition OGN has.

Topic. I was surfin the toobs watching a match between SSW and SKT1 this year, and it made me realize that Korea's OGN is probably entirely filled with top tier teams, where new upstarts are always possible.

I feel like in the NA, we have TSM, C9, and (LMQ, who came here from china and doesn't count.) Then a bunch of filler teams who couldn't even compete with even the worst team in korea (Probably.) I remember one time when Curse was pretty strong, and then suddenly they just hit a wall and stopped. Anything below them almost isn't even worth mentioning. If we had an entire LCS filled with teams as advanced as C9/TSM at all times, wouldn't that give us more practice, and thus more preparation for taking a world championship?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Curse, DIG, etc aren't pro players, they're all great in their own ways, but when we compare them to teams like SSW, even our absolute best look like novices half the time. The first two games of SSW vs TSM we're matches I had trying to get out of silver. And I was the TSM. (Lol.)

Any thoughts on this? Is it even possible for the competition in NA to truly reach the level of competition seen in OGN, or even the LPL?

(I don't like that my post got deleted from Misc, it seems kind of odd that Misc would have rules of what can be posted.)

I would say that there's plenty of competition in the NA LCS, or at least there was for the majority of the summer split. I don't know if you remember but for a long time both c9 and TSM were middle of the road as far as rankings go. CLG, Dig and LMQ were all ahead with curse occasionally taking games off of all of these teams. The only two teams that you could really count out were EG and Complexity and even then EG made big improvements over the split and Complexity repeatedly took games off of C9.

It's unfortunate that towards the end of the split both CLG and Dig just... burnt out. I know that CLG had internal issues but dig just kind of went on this random losing streak like they were totally out of gas or something. TSM wasn't even going to make it to worlds until they added lustboy. Can you see TSM competing in worlds with gleeb? They would've been 3rd seed and placed in the group of death before getting pummeled into the ground by everyone there.

Also not every team in Korea is freaking samsung or even SKT and najin level. Not even close. There are skill gaps in every region. This also goes for the lpl. Plenty of lpl teams are just bad, but we don't really see much of them because their vods aren't as accessible. What we are seeing is the very best of korea. That doesn't mean every team is even close to that level of power.
