Why isn't Blitz seen in pro play?

I have a feeling one argument is going to be that he doesn't have a peel for him and his team, but I feel that item 3069 solves that. Plus with item 3069, the only draw back would be that either someone on your team was too far away to be able to use it or someone on your team tries to reengage. Also, unlike Thresh's lantern, item 3069 affects more than one person, so noone gets left behind. (BECAUSE YOUR TEAM IS YOUR OHANA). Also, Blitz's pull is all the way, unlike Thresh's hook. And once Blitz his level 6, his ult is just as useful as thresh's in that it has a silence. Blitz can also be just as tanky as Braum as well, and can help initiate with item 3800 and/or item 3069 if needed.

PS I know that Sivir's ult does the same thing as item 3800 and item 3069 but I'm only talking about supports.

He is seen in pro play sometimes, actually. Just not incredibly often. He started to trickle away when they changed Overdrive.

He's picked, of course, for the early game kill potential in lane. A pro Blitzcrank is looking to end the game really quickly.

Anyone else remember that nasty blitz grab + kalista ult combo to pull someone like half the map? lol

If he misses his grab he is pretty much useless.

he is seen just rarely.

And the last thing you want is to end up groping a Leona, who looks at that as a free E, and a distance closer to Blitzcrank's ADC. I wonder if Braum's big shield can block it as well, or if Braum does a split second hop for a peel, taking the grab instead. Or if you end up grabbing a Shen, a Volibear, Alistar, or some other champion who grins when they see the fist coming.

He's just not reliable enouge. His entire kit is build arround landing that hook while taking some risks for going for that hook in the first place. And overal what does blitz actualy do compaired to Thresh. Blitz has more damage but that's not really a factor you should concider for a competive support.

Their are other examples like Ekko mid that backfires because their is not reliable damage output.

Overal blitz just lacks diversity in his kit. He just hooks, knockup & ults. Their is little to no diversity in his combo. Just look to his kit:

  • Passive: Mana Shield when below 20% of his health
  • Q: Single Target hook
  • W: Speedup
  • E: Single Target knockup
  • R: AOE silence

If you are looking to his. How is blitz going to peel against 2 people. If his ult is down he's really unreliable against them. His passive is nice & so but his kit just doesn't have to options to be that frontline. Compaired to thresh:

  • Passive: Getting more tanky the longer the game goes
  • Q: Single target hook
  • W: Shield, long range ally dash
  • E: AOE knockup
  • R: 5 single target slows

I really like blitz but he need some changes if you want to see him competive. An stupid example:

  • Passive: Overdrive (gains charges, on 100% he agains a speedboost for a fell seconds)
  • W: lightning bolt ground targetting area of effect ability (the passive from his ult but now as a ground targeting area of effect ability)). If it his a enemy the enemy get slowed, if it hits an ally he gains a shield.

  • Blitz deals almost 0 damage early on outside of q -> e combo, leaving the other team to freely focus the adc
  • Pro players can dodge almost every long distance grab; a short distance grab isn't as useful for initiating
  • Many other supports can buy item 3069 item 3092 as well, providing the same level of peel along with any skills they have

There is literally zero ping in pro play because it is played on a local server. Therefore the hook is much easier to dodge, especially since these players are the best in the world and spend all their life dodging skillshots to begin with.

Also, coordinated teams are able to punish him heavily the moment he misses a hook because they have voice comms.

Frankly Thresh is a less gimmicky version of Blitzcrank, who has more to offer to his team while the hook is on cooldown.

I know for a fact he used to see competitive play though.
