Why is lane swapping not a thing now?

I am watching the pros right now and the talkers said that lane swapping isn't a thing anymore, why is that?

Earlier this season, teams would lane swap in order to have an extended safe period for laning. They focused on turret trades, while also allowing double jungling between the top laner and jungler. However, recent changes have caused that strategy to not be very effective for a couple of reasons.

  1. There is now a first turret taken gold bonus. So even if you trade turrets, the first team to take it down will always have the gold advantage. This makes the choice risky.
  2. Bot lane turrets have reduced defenses early in the game. So it stands that these turrets are most likely to go down first. Therefore, the team that pushes the bot turret in a lane swap would have a significant advantage by not needing to devote as much time into taking that turret.
  3. They reduced the amount of experience achieved while double jungling if you aren't the jungler, making it inefficient for the top laner to do so.

All of these changes have contributed to the downfall of the "lane swap meta."

Turret first blood means they'd be giving away free gold if they swapped.

They made a change a few patches ago to get rid of lane swapping because they didn't really like that they were lane swapping in every match. It should be something you do situationally, not every game.

The exact change was: The Fortification buff (which makes it so that turrets have a lot of bonus Armor and Magic Resist before 8 minutes) has been removed from bot lane towers. The Fortification buff on all other towers was increased in Armor and Magic Resist, but reduced in time to 5 minutes on all other towers. Tower first blood gold (+400 gold split among the entire team who got the first turret when it dies).

This is designed to make it more worthwhile to keep your bottom laners in bot lane so that they can try for the turret first blood. Champions who can impact the map a lot, like Taliyah, Twisted Fate, Zed, and Ahri also become more powerful from this, as do early impact junglers like Twitch jungle, Zac, and Shaco.

Because first turret kill gives a lot more gold, so flipping a coin in a lane swap isnt the smartest idea.

You can't lane swap anymore cus the enemy team will push it in and dive you if you even try to stay

Thats why its called "Turret trade" now
