Just a question (I'm new to this whole LCS thing)
So after the regular spring split season, 7th place team to 10th place team either stay in the league or play relegations.
So do the standings after the regular season for the 6th to 1st place team matter? Or are the standings after playoffs the only thing that counts for 6th-1st?

t3r3th2 votesFor 1-6th only the playoff results matter (they decide how many points each team gets for worlds / guantlet seeeding).
The winner of the summer split goes to worlds as does the team with the most points from the spring and summer split combined.
Then the 3rd worlds spot is determined by a guantlet tournament (6th seed plays 5th, winner plays 4th, winner of that plays 3rd, winner of that goes to worlds). So the points from the spring split do matter a lot in terms of your chances of going to worlds.
Last years guantlet tournament was amazing.
Mat7itan1 votesBut over all the first round of points really doesn't matter too much. They do help but really placing well matters most during the summer split when the points earned for first are dropped down to second, and 3nd to third and so on, because the first place team of the summer split gets to go to worlds regardless of points.
Maszii1 votesJibberish, ofc first round matters. If you win Spring you get 90 points. You can then become 3rd in Summer and still have a tie/easy change to go to worlds (tie when second in spring got second in summer again). In Spring you make your manifest for Worlds, you lay the base.

Add together a team's spring and summer split points and compare it to other teams, the team with the most qualifies for Worlds as the 2nd seed (the 1st seed goes to the winner of the Summer Split Playoffs), so 2nd-5th are the ones that are seeded into the bracket.
GhostOfTsushima1 votesI think the 8th Top team get to stay in the LCS for the summer split and the bottom 2 are put in Regulation or something where they have to compete to get their spot back into the LCS by playing against Challenger Teams that is also fighting for the spot into LCS like Origen in the EU region in 2015 where they play for their spot into the Summer LCS.
AzureDragoon1 votesNope, bottom three teams (8th-10th) play in the LCS Promotions (Relegation). This is true for both EU and NA. Their standing at the end of a split, determines where they start for that. 10 Place get's placed in an Elimination round against the 2nd place Challenger team from their split's playoffs. The winner of that (Match A) goes to Match B, against the 8th place LCS team. Meanwhile the 9th place LCS goes up against the 1st place Challenger Series team in Match C. The losers of matches B and C then go on to a final chance fight, Match D.
The winners of Matches B, C, and D go on to play in the next season split of the LCS, while the losers of Match A and D are seeded back down in Challenger. Tonight is Match A for NA Promos (EU already completed theirs), and will be 2nd place Challengers Team Dragon Knights (TDK) against 10th Place LCS Dignatas (DIG).
Interesting fact, a number of TDK players, are former Renegade Players before their late split roster shakeup. Additionally they were an LCS team for Summer 2015 (they were the 10th place team. and were subject to the old LCS/CS rules where 10th place team was Auto-relegated to CS)
