This sounds like an interesting circumstance we have here. According to esportswikis, the qualified team is based on the highest ranked LCK Summer team that is not in the quarterfinals of KeSPA Cup, did not participate in Worlds Semis, and is not automatically invited to IEM Katowice. All 3 teams reached semis at Worlds. So to break it down:

ROX is already secured for IEM Gyeonggi as 1st LCK Summer.
SKT/SSG will secure a spot at IEM Katowice. This means the loser will have to win KeSPA Cup in order to secure the second spot at IEM Gyeonggi.

Which means now we have to look deeper for Oakland in particular. The top 4 remaining teams would be KT Rolster, Afrecca Freecs, MVP, and Jin Air in that order. And that requires the team failing to make KeSPA playoffs! Who do you think will wind up taking the spot?

I have no idea.
I didn't know teams had to compete to be apart of IEM I thought teams just got randomly invited.
Never heard of this KeSPA Cup either.
How many IEM's are there?

Teams are invited and can choose whether or not they want to compete. Then it goes to the next team in line if possible

I thought teams just got randomly invited.

It used to be fan vote (imagine how that always went) and before that I believe it was random. This season they based it mostly off of Worlds results aside from Korea and IWC who have a few more conditions. LMS I think also has a qualifier of some kind since neither team reached quarterfinals.
