Time for Higher Prize money in Worlds?
Well, DOTA 2 championship just gave away $18M in prize money. Wondering if that will cause a big jump in LOL's current 2M.

The prize pool for The International is because of Compendium sales, not because they just decided to give out more money. Riot would need to introduce something to sell that goes directly to the LCS prize pool rather than paying the players a salary. The prize money would be based on how much you're willing to pay them.
The prize pool was 15million last year, so clearly Riot isn't gonna let that affect what they have planned for their future. While i think its amazing that dota has sucha rabid fan base and their player actually care about their esports, they are playing a very dangerous game by having the majority of the prize pool donated. Imagine next year they dont' hit 15mllion...or worse yet it goes back to the minimum 2million. It would be very embarrassing and could make it seem that the game is in decline.
Its been 2 years straight now with 15+ million at the international. They have also announced some other changes to the tournament schedule to make esports more stable (prolly taking a page out of Riot's book)
Sure, Riot will make it $18,000,001. Kappa
