How do you predict EDG going 0-3?

This is the typical wtf moment of worlds. Does anyone have EDG placed 4'th in group A?

I put them in 4th. I have not watched pro play this season so have no idea where anyone except SKT is expected to place; I suppose my ignorance helped my decision?

I have EDG 3rd, so its still achievable. More concerning for my pickem is Misfits, whom everyone counted out even during the EU playoffs. Right now, it looks like they'll beat FW for sure (let's not forget that Flash Wolves were the pool 1 seed in group D) and have a real chance to take the group. Maybe I should've learned when everyone thought Unicorns would beat them, or after that when Fnatic trash-talked them only to lose.

I have Misfits at two. They may still fail me, but why would everyone place EUs number 2 (sorry G2 group of death) so low. I mean sure they don't look as good as everyone else, but I think too many people discounted them.

EDG as 3rd is probably super common. NA fans want C9 in it, so they have to drop someone and obviously won't drop SKT. Now EDG at 4th would be an amazing call (although they can likely get 3rd).

Misfits was low because people thought FW, TSM, and WE were better. All 3 of those teams WON their spring splits and went to MSI. 2 of the 3 won their summer splits. Some people think WE is a better team than RNG and EDG. Flash Wolves, prior to this year, have had the best record against Korean teams of anyone (and even after a 1-4 showing at MSI, they might still hold that title), and have had the trio of Maple, Karsa, and Swordart for years. People value that continuity.

The second reason I touched on in my previous post, because people were counting out Misfits even during the EU playoffs. Even after beating Unicorns and Fnatic, nobody really thought Misfits were good. As an NA fan, I just assumed EU was bad for losing, rather than Misfits good for winning. And they still might lose. Cloud9 had that 0-4 week after starting 3-0 a couple years ago.

As for EDG, I would think that they're a better team than C9 on paper, but they have a reputation of underperforming like TSM, thus my C9 2nd prediction. Naturally, though, I ignore all of TSM's past failures when picking them to win group D.

People were placing MSF low before they even received a group stage announced.

Winning NA means nothing. I may be biased, but it is literally a paper prize. I was going to say more about the other regions, but basically I think NA means nothing. TSM can still make it strong out of groups though, I think MSF still has to prove themselves more.

Yea, most people probably thought EDG would be the Chinese team to drop random games. Partly due to hope for C9.

I don't know China, I only very lightly watch LPL.

But I was always watching EDG, WE, and RNG. Maybe some OMG. I thought WE was one of the big ones so I was surprised when it said they hadn't been to worlds in years. But I also feel like of all of the teams, for some reason EDG is just the one I trust the least.

I already said in some other threads that MSF would get third, they would beat FW and upset TSM with good prepare. Didnt think it would happen this weak already though :p. My FNC inner fanboi let me down though. And EDG failing to close out games.

I expected them to be 3rd.

Chinese teams tend to poorly internationally. NA and EU get a lot of hate regarding how bad they tend to do but the Chinese teams despite sometimes having 3+ koreans don't do any better. In fact, they under perform a lot. So i expected them not to do as good

C9 too also tends to do the best of all NA teams in worlds. AHQ also tends to show up on worlds.

EDG did well last year, atleast made it out of groups. And RNG almost always makes it to semi finals. Team WE was but the only team I expected to not perform off the Chinese

Very surprising that EDG are indeed 0-3/4th but overall, EDG just doesn't ever do much at Worlds in the first place.

could be me. i only have eyes for tsm despite how they've been doing before, every time hoping it'll be different. the rest, i pretty much randomed all of them except tsm, so it would be funny if i actually won.
