Why am I not seeing more complaints about group C being unfairly weighted? #1 team from Korea and #1 team from NA in the same group? I understand that there are 5 #1 teams from major regions and only 4 groups, so the way it works is to randomly determine which group gets 2 #1 teams, but I maintain that Korea and LMS should be in one group for 2018 (as would be done when pairing high seeds with low seeds in a bracket.) That's not the way it is though, and I'm fine with swallowing that pill.

My big issue is that when play-in teams are mixed into the groups, they put the far-and-away best play-in team into group C also! Like I said, I understand there is going to be some random inequity in the system for group stage. However, here is a chance to at least try to balance things out, but instead they make things even more lopsided. I mean just take a look at the sorry excuse for a bunch of teams that is group A! At least try to adhere to some kind of integrity by attempting to balance things out. Obviously no system is perfect but at least do what you can.

I had to get that out of my system. It's been bugging me all day and I want to get over it and move on. Hopefully my blood pressure will return to normal now. Agree or disagree, what are your thoughts?

For reference: Group C - kt Rolster, Edward Gaming, Team Liquid, MAD Team Group A - Afreeca Freecs, G2 Esports, Flash Wolves, Phong Vũ Buffalo

NA didn't have it's own group because the LMS, EU, LCK, and LPL all preformed better at MSI.

How can you say EDG is the best play in team when C9 and G2 both finished 2nd in their groups while also taking down everyone in their groups at least once.

That makes sense about MSI. I didn't realized that was the determinant. Thank you.

As far as EDG being the best play in team I would weigh 1) knowledge of how the teams looked toward the end of the split in regard to how strong their regions are, and 2) the "eye test" higher than how each team placed in randomly determined, volatile play-in groups. I feel, and get the feeling most agree with me, that EDG looked like a better team both in their play in China pre-worlds and at play-ins at worlds.

EDIT: If you are looking for something more concrete, then you could use the same MSI argument used to put NA in with KR. China won MSI.

China won MSI, RNG won, C9 beat them once and then almost beat them in the tie breaker game for 1st.

EDG was really inconsistent in China, they are a great team but they don't always gel together, but to say they are the best of the 4 is a little pre mature.

C9's Korean team folded like a cheap suit. G2 had an easy group. They got Taiwan 1 (easiest 1) and the wild card region. OOOOO so tough. Edward would have made it out of either of those two groups.

Imo i mostly agree g2s group was meh the fact that they even got so far behind against taiwan was just a poor showing it was like a bronze game i spectated a few days ago where a yi had 35 kills and still lost because he chased kills ans diddnt try to end. Phing could have beaten g2 but they circle jerked around baron and pissed away their lead. Just sad. And while i agree that geng was a flop rhe rest of c9s group was no pushover. Honestly it could have gone either way rng was always expected to get out but vitality was definatly a contender. C9 beat them in their head to head or vit would have gotten out not c9. It was in their hands the whole time if vit had beaten c9 they would have escaped groups. Both teams preformed well and as far as im concerned eu/na dosnt matter we have 3 western teams in quarters. That means there is still a chamcw of at least 1 western team making finals for the first time in years. Im all for another non kr vs kr final.

GenG folded because they couldn't handle the early game of the other two teams and RNG was simply just better, it wasn't cause they were bad. This is the same team that won last year.

RNG was the MSI winner and the favorite right up there with KT. C9 almost beat RNG twice, while taking both games against Vit who swept Gen and split with RNG. Group B was far harder then EDGs group, to say EDG is far better then C9 is asinine. EDG may be better, but we really don't know.

I realize this is a joke, but Liquid 2-0'd MAD and never had a problem with 100T in NALCS, so in your "group of all suck teams" it's safe to say that Liquid would have rolled easily. I think Liquid is on-par with EDG (as proven by the 1-1 record), but outclassed by kt and RNG. Any other team at Worlds I think they could hang with, altho they might've gotten intimidated out by Afreeca. I really wish we'd gotten FNC vs. TL, I think Caps would outclass Pobelter, but Rekkles v DLift would've been fun and the other lanes would be interesting.
