Hey folks, we're back on PBE with another iteration on the updated healthbars and we need your feedback on the changes. The theme of this iteration is Familiar Plus Goodies.

Changes are as follows:

  • Champ meters are now the same width as live and just a bit taller.
  • Champ meter colors should be much closer to live values.
  • Normal damage hangs around a tiny bit longer - similar to live.
  • New spell shield border.
  • All borders should look cleaner.
  • Themed secondary resources like Corki, Jhin, etc still need a bunch of polish - feedback is still valid, but we are aware of their stylistic issues.
  • Kled is fixed.
  • Grey health should be much clearer.
  • Burst damage is brighter on the left and darker on the right hand side to make current health more visible at all times.
  • Extra life and unkillable icons got tweaks.
  • Shred and defense up icons and systems have been simplified.
  • Mana missing bug fixed (related to the manaflow band rune).
  • CC text now has a text gradient.
  • Level numbers should be centered (hopefully the fix sticks this time).

Upcoming:

  • Resource polish (as mentioned above).
  • Tower death and Nexus animations.
  • Level number colors.

Tbh I don't see the issue with leaving them as they were with some slight tweaks, it looks like I'm playing Mobile Legends with the way the new health bars look, and I feel like seeing the health bar go solid red for one shots is WAY more satisfying than seeing some orange/yellow color like it is getting changed to

I really really dislike the shake on the new chunk animation, it feels like unnecessary visual clutter for something that should be readable as quickly as possible.

Can there be an option to put the enemy's level on the right side like it is on live?

I'm not a fan of the wobbling health bars. With all the moving particles in a team fight already, I feel like it's too much. I think that's also a large part of the 'mobile' complaint you're getting. Any chance we can toggle the health bar wobble?

Its More arcadey and I like it. Ever think about giving the numbers that same kind of polish?

Logging in just to comment. Live Burst looks WAAAYY better then New Burst. Its a damn health bar it doesn't need some fancy ass transition from red to orange. The red on red looks way way better.

It does hurt my eyes a little when it flashes orange. Can there be an option to use the old one?

Is there any reason why the lost health doesn't start depleting immediately, compared to live which starts to go down as soon as the damage is taken?

I like the new style. However something I can still not get used to is the shaking effect. It just makes it look.. weird to me.

I assume we're going to be getting a few more screenshots here? Specifically interested in the new Defense/Shred icons, as well as the Extra Life/Unkillable icons, since those were my biggest pain points with the first iteration that we saw. :)

New burst is gorgeous though, and I think the adjusted healthbar design is fantastic.

Can you guys please the current ammo system? The new one proposed looks like a downgrade to be completely honest, and its just kinda hanging around. On the current ammo system it feels really nice to finally reach that final big red bullet that clearly shows its gonna do some damage, whilst the new one just feels bland and out of place.

I personally love this change but I have one problem that I know others share my opinion with. The shake on burst damage seems odd and uneeded, especially when the point of the update is to clear confusion on health bars and make things more smooth. I'd personally be much more confused with 7 shaking health bars in a team fight when there is a riven diving a back line or a fed jhin or vayne autoing things. I think this update would be phenomenal without the shake.

to be fair if level square was a circle shaped and on other side from health bar that were current experience little bar (like it was couple seasons ago) and enemy level on bar was on the right it would be 10/10 perfect health bar and every one would cheer for that human who would bring back old experience bar [slayer-jinx-wink]

Will there be a way to change the size of the health-bar, or perhaps use the older one?

D2Vincent11/6/2017, 10:35:51 PM2 votes

Any chance for some sort of thing for After-Death champs? (Sion, Karthus, Kog'maw) to show how long their After-Death Passive lasts? Just curious :P

Looks better, but I still don't like the shake, and I'd rather the whole bar were slightly smaller.

xVirus11/7/2017, 5:26:13 PM2 votes

Can there be an option to choose between the old and the new one. I prefer the old one as it seems smaller and more dull which I like.

FatedTitan11/7/2017, 3:04:45 PM2 votes

The shaking needs to go. For a company that toned down so many animations for the sake of cutting out visual noise in team fights, it's really surprising this is even considered. Not only is it annoying to watch, but with everything else happening around me, I don't need that shaking as well. Take the shaking off and you're fine.

I like the gradient colours and the slightly subtler boarder around the health bar. I think for me the shake to the health bar when receiving burst damage is a bit too extreme. I think seeing somebody's health drop as much as it does, plus the fact that more attention is brought to the health bar with the gradient, means that it shaking is just a bit too much happening all at once. Plus, in teamfights when everything gets a bit hectic and you're trying to focus the vayne sat at the back or cc lock their engage in the middle of 5 of you, it would be good if the health bars were a bit more stationary, otherwise it just seems like adding a little more confusion and movement into an already hectic teamfight, which could force you to concentrate more on something you shouldn't need to, rather than on the fight.

Keep old look but with new burst animations?

LordAlfrey11/6/2017, 11:34:06 PM1 votes

Looks like teemo could use a little help there, time to buff him!

XxwinerxX11/6/2017, 10:59:28 PM1 votes

Is the square under the level number is always gonna be dull after change. I think it is way more easier for me to read those number when it have a bright background. Would you guys consider make it changeable to bright color?
