Replays Testing on new League Client in NA only

Hey Everyone,

We’re starting to test Replays in the new client over the course of patch 6.22, and there’s a couple things to keep an eye out for. First, you may see features like the Annotated Timelines and the record button before you’re able to download and watch a replay. This is an expected part of the rollout process, but we wanted to give you a heads up. Second, the initial live test will be in NA. We’ll continue to keep you updated on progress as we get closer to a global launch. In the meantime, let us know what you think!

Also as an FYI, we're currently aware of an issue where the Replay Button will appear "expired" for the first match after you patch. Please try logging in again or checking the match in Match History. We're already working on a fix, but please let us know if you see this happen in other cases.

Any idea why I can't see items for anyone? I can't see the bottom scoreboard that shows items/scores (tab menu in game) either.

so for some reason replays aren't working for me. every time I download a replay and click the play button, it will say replay not found. failed to open replay. game will now exit.

Just a heads-up, cause I'm not sure if you're intending for this information to be actually visible to players if they want it...

In the opening part of the replay file, if you open it in notepad, the JSON portion with the game stats for each player is plain text. It's fairly benign for items built and all the stats you can get in post-game, obviously. But there are things like total spell cast counts for each spell which may be a gray area (though it could prove an interesting stat to know about yourself). And then other things that appear to indicate a player's ping, who in the game that player had muted, who in the game had muted that player, if they were detected AFK that game, etc. which I'm guessing you'd probably not want people to be able to freely download and view?

Also, thanks for keeping the .rofl file format from way back when you guys tried replays the first time around :P

I like the reeplay system so far. It is going well but I think it would be great to have a rewind function.

Where is the folder where downloaded replays are located?

Kei14311/14/2016, 12:47:49 AM1 votes

Hmm .. is there a way to reduce the movie size?

a 35 sec clip is 10 MB which is kidda huge.

I've tried to reduce the settings & resolution, but it is still huge.

I don't have a movie editor to shrink it as well, but it'll be kidda annoying to have to do that everytime I want to share something.

Really enjoying using the replay system so far! It seems like right now they only save to a predetermined location on the C: drive so I was wondering if there were any plans to create a setting allowing me to change that location.

Hey Riot,

Wanted to say thank you for adding the feature of the replay mode and also allowing the players record some of the game play. I noticed one thing when it comes to recording the game play though. The format comes into a VLC Media (.webm format actually) and that is not compatible it with Adobe Premiere Pro. Is there any way to which the files could be compatible with Premiere Pro if possible since I use that program to edit my videos on (which I'm sure most of us do as well at this time). I've been trying to research this everywhere to convert the files or to get the .webm to be editable in Premiere Pro with a plugin but nothing seems to work so far. I look forward to your response!

How do i watch the replays in the league of legends replay folder? Is there a way to watch it outside of the client?

Majoria4/23/2017, 3:33:54 PM1 votes

The biggest problem with the new Replay is that when you record and save the file for yourself, it does not save it in an compatible file. There is no way to view the game. If you convert it, then you notice the darn recorder takes up the bottom center. How do I record, and yet get rid of that bar so I can show the Items and Player Stats. I want to look at that too for a Replay. Not the darn recorder menu.

When you find the folder of replays in FIle Explorer, how do you play it from there?

What about watching replays from other players' match histories, friended or otherwise?
