Except you aren't talking to your audience then. Meeting aggression with aggression isn't the best approach in most situations, especially when one person is at an elevated level of tension from a recent punishment.

Ideally you need to speak in a calming tone, but not cross the line to patronizing. This is already a tough thing to do in many cases, partly due to the fact that text doesn't really have a tone. People will read and think whatever tone they want to hear.

So again, you don't need to match aggression with aggression just to "keep it real".

Growing up my father always taught me to talk to my audience. If you are speaking to a room full of scholars, then you refrain from using a tone that made you come of as belittling the intelligence of others. While also knowing that if your dealing with a bunch of drunks who love to cuss and fight....you make your point while punching them in the face and using expressions that even they could understand.

If you have to accentuate your point by punching someone, then either you're dealing with the wrong people, or you've screwed up terribly in the conversation department.

At any rate, look at it like this; since you're plainly referring to PB, look at PB like a place to teach people better behavior. Emphasis on the word "teach".

You don't teach people by insulting them, belittling them, etc., you teach them through patience. Explain what they did wrong, what they should do going forward, and don't insult them.

Because insulting someone is a surefire way to get them to double-down, go on the defensive, and learn exactly nothing.

You dont teach a blind person a language, using sign lauguage.

This is probably the strangest non-sequitur I've seen yet.

Here's a more appropriate phrase; "You catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar." You won't find people readily accepting your points or learning anything if you embitter them with insults.

You shouldn't be trying to belittle the intelligence of anyone...
