GODDAMMIT! We now have even MORE titles for positions, and now I have more questions.

Not too long ago I made a post asking about what people are in what positions and what they all do. I was confused because I had only recently gotten used to the concept of the "Arbiter" position.

However, I logged in today, and people who used to have the "Warden" title now have the "Moderator" title, for example, or maybe the "Advisor" status. We also have Heralds, and Archivists, and the all-powerful Reds.

Personally, I feel like the titles on the boards lack a state of stability; I'm not sure who does what, whose authority matters in which situation, why I care, and by the time I figure out the answers to those questions, the positions and their titles will have changed again!

Can we just get a big pinned note at the top of every board subsection explaining what these people do? Do Moderators replace Wardens now? What's the difference in those two positions, if not? What is the end fantasy for these boards?

Basically, the three groups of volunteers are as follow:

Moderator: Moderators are pretty straightforward, they enforce the rules of the boards. Their job is to maintain order on the boards.

Advisor: Advisors are similar to moderators, but their primary focus is to be active on the boards answering questions and supporting the community.

Herald: Heralds are big picture kind of things. They handle larger project, help make sure the moderation team is on the right track, etc.

Hey there!

We recently underwent a small internal reorganization, precisely BECAUSE we felt the roles were a little confusing. There will be a big post soon introducing this, but I'll break it down here for you.

We've retired a few titles, and narrowed them down to the following:

  • Heralds -- Focus on a number of internal/external projects, mentoring other volunteers, and community building. Big picture stuff, basically.
  • Moderators -- Focus on moderation responsibilities on the boards (Wardens have largely been rolled into this role).
  • Advisors -- Focus on community support and answering community questions (Arbiters have been rolled into this role, along with some Wardens).
  • Archivists -- Focus on community building for our creative community.
