If you report behavior, a moderator will take a look when they are available. We are a volunteer team, and are not always immediately able to hit everything that is reported, which I apologize for. I'd like to say we can get everything immediately, but it's simply not feasible.
There is also definitely some internal conversations on how strict our punishments should be. We are currently slightly more lenient than in-game punishments on everything but the worst behaviors, and we currently give some additional leeway on Player Behavior, as we know that's a rather heated board at times.
That said, I will post some of the contents of the thread in question that violated the Universal Rules. Names of posters will be omitted in all cases. I told you it was locked for belligerent comments: perhaps "belligerent" was a bit of a strong word, but the following conveys the tone of the arguments:

Comments like these (which are from multiple parties) are antagonistic, inflammatory, and political (in many cases), all of which are against boards policy. I will not pretend that there was not a discussion going on, but when the discussion falls afoul of so many board rules something has to be done. While we could have pruned the thread to edit out the offending comments, there was enough work to be done that the moderator who handled it chose (correctly, in my view) to simply remove the entire thread.
If you wish to make a similar thread and the tone of it remains free of the personal insults, politically-leaning commends, aggressive argument styles, and Universal Rule violations, we will be more than happy to leave it up.
