Lyte hasn't been part of the team for a few years now, nor is it riot's fault that you decided to be toxic in chat because your ego was worth the trouble

Not really. Honor only affects the following: Hextech Crafting (in the way of ambient key fragment generation), Ranked play (in the way of eligibility for end of season rewards), and Clash (in the way of eligibility to sign up).
That's hardly "too integrated". You can still play the game, you can still use the shop, you can still use Hextech Crafting and play Ranked - so, I'd say that since it's unobtrusive to playing the game, it's not "too integrated".

You earned your Gold Rank through good play - you lost it through dishonorable behavior. Besides, this is hardly an issue with Honor, as even in seasons before 2017, Riot would make players ineligible to receive rewards if they got punished near season's end.

Again; this time with less sarcasm: If they really were making the game worse (which, how can you get worse than "ruined"?), then it'd be extremely visible.
But, I suppose you are right in a sense; they are making the game worse...For you, and in your opinion. But, if you don't like punishments, don't break the rules.
Your rank was not removed. Your rewards for being a good player were removed because while you had good gameplay, you did not have good behavior. This is how it has been since at least season 5 (and I'm fairly certain since before that as well) - players with punishments were restricted from some/all rewards.
you still have till october/november to get back to honor two. just be on your best behavior
