Sometimes I feel like even the most benign posts on this website get downvoted for no reason. Posts that aren't even an opinion get downvoted. Legitimate questions will get downvoted and left unanswered.

The worst part about this mechanic is that you don't get an explanation, so if you want a discussion or feedback you won't get it, some lazy kids will just downvote your thread into oblivion.

Personally I think something that might help with this is moving the upvote/downvote thing to the bottom of the thread instead of the top to dissuade trolls from mass downvoting, and to encourage people to read/skim the whole thread or comment before casting a vote and leaving after reading nothing but the title. But please let me know what you guys think about this and then downvote this thread, please?.

If you ask me, upvotes and downvotes shouldn't even be a thing. I've seen posts/comments with a ton of upvotes and they're the most bullshit thing I've ever read and I've seen posts/comments with a ton downvotes and are the truest things I've ever read.

The reasons are as followed:

  • Upvote cuz it follows your own bias
  • Downvote cuz it doesn't share your own opinion.

You have to make posts that people agree with. But even that's not 100%.

Bottom line, nobody is entitled to upvotes, and you shouldn't concern yourself with imaginary arrows clicked by internet strangers. You aren't an "influencer" and nobody knows who you are.
