Can we discuss the real issue with the boards and why it is dying?

This year World's final day was discussed all over reddit and its blowing up out of proportion there. Instead in the Boards the Esports section and everywhere else its almost dead. There are no new discussion flooding in, the ones that are up barely live up to a few comments and generally the whole section is basically dead. EVEN THE STICKY HAS ONLY 11 COMMENTS AND BARELY ANY VIEWS

Now I know the boards have less traffic than other years and even less traffic compared to last year. Taking into consideration that the official forums for a game is normally the one with most traffic since it lets developers and regular users know and talk with each other with their main IGN leading to making contacts and even friendships this is really odd for League of Legends

Now why is this? Riot Cactopus already said on reddit that the boards sucks and honestly I think so too. He mentioned the lack of stickers as one of the factors and that has been addressed but the traffic is still declining.

Personally I think the biggest fault has been the moderation team. Specially this year since it was outsourced to volunteers that barely read the posts before commenting (I have a recent example with The Djinn and an old one with Elduris). Another problem is that some volunteers even ban users for the use of the word "pancake". But let comments like "Bye" and crying gifs as answer to other users as if it wasn't harassment

Shout out to the reddit moderation team btw they are doing a far better job.

So what do you think is the reason?

EDIT: This board has a message from 29 days ago in the "new" section btw... which is hilarious

Yep. I 100% missed that you were talking about skin shards instead of champion shards. I will point out, however, that I immediately owned up to that mistake, that is was out of context of moderation actions, and that no harm came of that misunderstanding. I do not moderate in the same occasionally-rushed fashion that I post as a boards user. :)

You know I get you want to give feedback about moderation, but saying "we suck" really isn't fair. We bust our ass to make sure all of you are taken care of. We have conversations, disagreements, and discussions every day about how to handle a post. Sure we're not perfect, but we can't be and we shouldn't try to be. What you see on the outside isn't how it is on the inside which is understandable, but you shouldn't go so far to say "we suck" and "the biggest fault has been the moderation team." I don't know about you, but I have 70 pages of moderation history from gentle nudges to bans in the few months I've been here. I can promise you we do read threads, posts, and look for context before we do anything.

tl;dr Have a little faith and we do not suck by any means.

I will never, ever go to reddit. With their shady rules like shadow bans its fucking abhorrent.

Reddit is simply a larger entity than these boards but IMO that's fine.

Did you know:

  • Heroes of the Storm Reddit is larger than Heroes of the Storm Forum?

  • World of Warcraft Reddit is larger than World of Warcraft Forum?

  • Overwatch Reddit is larger than Overwatch Forum?

  • Dota 2 Reddit is larger than Dota 2 Forum?

Its almost like..... Reddit is a massively popular website or something..... Surely not though, if that was true than this entire thread would seem so meaningless.... https://i.giphy.com/media/KYNywoibU1PQ4/giphy.gif

You keep saying that it's losing traffic... but I still don't see why that should matter.

I've never seen someone put so much energy into coming onto forums to complain that there are other, better forums.

If you like Reddit so much better, why do you care? Just go use Reddit. I don't say that to be mean, I'm honestly curious why you keep posting about this over and over again instead of just moving over there?

Is it losing traffic? I'm Not sure it is, what time line and basis and stuff could anyone base it on....Sorry, I'm not asking you KempyreanPirate to provide such information.
