My personal experiences with the Boards.
Since the boards are being deleted I figured I'd post about my own personal experiences on the boards while I still have the chance.
I started getting involved in the boards community back on the old now archived forums, and though I did browse most of the boards I mostly stuck to posting in Tribunal Ban Inquiries and Player Behavior as that was what interested me the most: trying to help out other people in regards to behavior (and yes I also did participate in the Tribunal when that was a thing, though it was long after the IP rewards had been removed just fyi). I even helped contribute a bit to Ulanopo's Knowledge Base which I have referenced allot over the years here as I find its articles both informative and helpful.
Fast forward to the new boards I again stuck to helping out with Player Behavior, though in the early days of the boards the PB section didn't exist for some reason so most PB related posts at that time were in GD if memory serves. I also started getting a bit more involved in the Esports side of things with some Esports related posts here and there. A little while later I got invited to join the Arbiter program (something I always figured and felt like I'd get invited to join eventually just based on a hunch/feeling I had), which eventually got merged with a bunch of the other specialty and fancy named roles into Moderator (they all had the same basic privileges, just with fancy names). Joining the Arbiters is actually what got me to make a Discord account since having one was a requirement and I hadn't had an interest in making one prior.
That's not to say I only stuck to PB and Esports as I did dabble a bit in other sections, and I was especially vocal about my disappointment with some of Riots decisions, such as with Dominion being removed from the game, a decision (much like with the removal of Twisted Treeline) I still disagree with to this day. I personally also disagree with the boards being removed, and while I can sorta understand to an extent why it's being removed it still feels like another Dominion/TT scenario where rather than actually address and fix the issues properly Riot's solution is to just ignore them and then remove the thing where the problems are taking place at later on down the road, blame the community for the problems and the removals and then pretend it doesn't exist. I also don't see why they can't just leave both boards up for reference/historical purposes either.
My problems with Riots decisions aside though I do think my experiences on both of the boards has helped me grow some as a person, which I can appreciate, and am very thankful for the opportunity to work as a mod as well as for the privilege of being flown out to Riot HQ for their 10th Anniversary event, something I never expected to happen ever for any game I played. While I don't know if I'll switch to Reddit yet I will still be active on Twitter and in Discord if anyone still wishes to keep in touch with me there.
Take care everyone, thanks for reading and as always thank you for your time.
