can the mods jump on and remove posts that are political faster?

It took way WAY too long to lock a certain political thread, it was there when I woke up and it only just got locked as i got back as the sun was setting.... I feel like it defeats the point of having this rule if the threads are allowed to be up for a day, they have already done thier damage by then.

In general it feels like political threads sometimes get through and others get deleted, if its against the rules cant the rule be consistent and not allow ANY political threads?

Also, there was another thread posting screenshots of someones twitter and basically it turned into a post to mock them, again, feel like that shit should be deleted much much faster than it was, otherwise I feel like the mods are responsible for not trying to curtail the angry mob on here as much as they could...

is there something I can do to speed along the process?

It's not for lack of trying, but you have to remember we're an all-volunteer team with real jobs, other hobbies and off days just like everyone else.

This is also not a problem that can be solved by "just add warm bodies." Volunteers have to remain professional, fair and show consistently good judgment in what are, frankly, some pretty rough situations. Finding the middle ground between supporting the various communities want and what the Boards need is not a simple "click-and-remove" task. There's a lot of discussion and review that goes on behind the scenes. Lots of people don't qualify and lots of people burn out after a while.

And lots of mods that just do a bad job and take out a spot of someone who probably would have done a decent one or doing more harm than good and just piling up more work and antagonism towards the boards, I think that is one of the problems too

some users are always going to be antagonistic towards mods on the basis that mods stop them from doing whatever foul shit that they want.

... That said, most of the people complaining on these boards are, to put it mildly, assholes...

That line just ridicules people like me who believe in their views may them be different and it gets full backup from moderation, don't think for a second that I can say this phrase and wont get a ticket for it.

And when you say - "Ok it is the rules it the same for everyone" you realize that it is just not true, they say it themselves, it is always in the lines of - moderators are humans, they not always consistent, someone can punish on it but another can give a reason not to, every case is different.

Yes, that is correct, but when the guidelines are too broad the moderator can just do whatever he wants, and it basically like there are no rules or policies, the guidelines need to be much more strict and give a definite answer to most of the regular cases, only the irregular ones should get special attention and get decided by the rules gist, inconsistent ruling is like there are no rules.

You gotta learn to deal with the fact that moderation exists in public forums bud, weather it be an alcoholics anonymous meeting or a place to discuss videogame balance.

Don't like it? Make your own forums or go to forums that have zero moderation.

It's like 40 sec read, why even to answer if you are not even going to have a conversation and address the points, your comment is considered low effort and spam (you just admitted it), but hey you are pro moderation so I guess you can do here whatever you want

it just feels like theres more you could do for specific posts, even if you dont remove them if you had a tool to put them on hold and hide them before deciding what to do with them THAT would be so much better

Some of the posts I saw are very clearly going to result in harassment of people, are simply political from the start or are very clearly going to devolve into politically fueled echo chamber of hatred... It makes me think if some of the mods don't care about the very political minded fueling of rage on these boards? Idk

I kinda doubt id be granted a position, I think id learn too left for them, if one of the mods said to me "well why dont you try it here become a mod" ok but im not going to go through the process to apply idk if that makes sense.

And this isn't necessarily rhe right call. Sometimes releasing the rope on the rules comes up. You want to use a blanket method by the sound of it. Some discussions can have politacl discussion and still be civilish or somewhat relevant (like the Pax thing)

the pax thing wasn't civil, maybe you meant it was relevant, well i don't care if it was relevant it was a bunch of people in an echo chamber working eachother up and like 1-2 reasonable people who got drowned out.

some political threads are very clearly not going to be civil and if they are left up for the whole day thier damage is already done
