Boards Survival Tips 101 -Post 1. (Upvotes/Downvotes)

I believe Rubick made a similar thread awhile back but here I plan to cover some of the basics of Boards Edict. I understand some will disagree, and do the opposite of some of the things listed here in this very thread. None the less, let us begin!

#Section 1 Downvotes and Upvotes

##Upvotes

• Upvotes are used for the intent of bumping an idea that seems "good" or that you like.
• They can also be used to bring awareness to a post you feel deserves it. (Like this one... What do you mean no!)
• Upvotes are more or less can, and should be freely used to concepts you enjoy.
• They are also used to make Jhin posts 4 or multipule of 4 upvotes ;)

##Downvotes

• Downvotes on the other hand are quite a bit diffrent. The are not the opposite of Upvotes as some may think.
• While upvotes are there to bump an idea you like. Downvotes SHOULD NOT BE USED to attack disagreeing ideas.
• The intent of downvotes is to call someone out/hide a comment when they are being blatantly rude and disrespectful.
• If someone writes out a well-thought out post, be it correct or incorrect, you should not be downvoting them.
• If someone writes a post, be it agreeable or not, but is nothing more then pure disrespect/bandwagoning then that is where your downvote goes.
• EX 1 This example is a recent post by Rubick. Be the ideas agreeable or not- they bring in insight from the writer without insulting the audience > https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/W4Vtwwfm-im-going-to-destroy-the-entire-board-with-a-single-thread (Upvote/Neutral depending on views)
• EX 2 This post made it to the top of the boards. It's honestly sad. It brings no insight but rather uses bandwagoning to gain popularity. > https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/9mLTU56V-alright-heres-the-plan-blue-team-bans-yasuo-and-red-team-bans-lee-sin-every-game (Neutral. No real reason to be hidden. But belongs in M&G not gameplay)
• EX 3 No context whatsoever & just brings in personal examples -Worth of a downvoet > https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/R3y8d13v-yasuo?comment=0002
• Lastly we have comments with racial slurs/insults. These not only deserve a downvote but also a report. The report function is at the bottom right of a comment. No example will be provided due to the nature of such comments.
