Stuck in the Mud!! Morgana Root Last Forever!

Since I am not a big person on these here boards, my forum post will probably go by without notice. Perhaps if i get some attention of one person we can start something.

Morgana's Root is the longest "stun" in the game currently, as a support that has played Morg in the support role, and faced her, I can attest to this claim. Maxing at 3 secs, this seems like eternity for any melee champ (since they cannot cast anything to get them out) and ranged champs alike ( since everyone is now out of AA range and some spells cannot be casted from this root). In some cases the root acts like a stun, immobilizing the champ and not allowing them to cast any retaliation abilities. Here is my proposition:

  • Nerf each level of root duration by .75 secs. so now the Q would look like 1.25/1.50/1.75/2.00/2.25 secs.
  • To be honest though, the root is combined with the ability of Tormented Soil. If the Tormented soil dmg/sec was increased or at least hit the champ more frequently, then the nerf to the root duration would be more accepted. For example, instead of being hurt every 1 sec, make it to where you are hurt every .75 secs.

This is just some food for thought. I believe that Morg in the support role is forcing the opposing support to buy a specific item to free anyone trapped in the root. I believe this is not what Riot's wishes are. Leave you opinion below and share the link with all of your friends. LET'S NERF MORGANA!!!!

imho her snare's duration comes at a major cost of damage capacity. It's relatively slow missile speed and wide hit-box makes it difficult to land and somewhat easy to dodge unless at short range, and easy to deny with minion blocking. By this same logic Blitz pull is just as detrimental, as it has a faster projectile speed and results in just as much cc if paired with the knock-up (2 secs of cc + displacement) as it is more often than not.

Can it be changed? Of course! I do feel the snare has too much of her kit's power budget invested and changing it around to make her somewhat bland playstyle more engaging would be a marvelous idea imo, but a straight nerf? Not so much.

As a big Morgana player myself, I can say landing those binds are hard cause they are so slow! Specially when you compare it Lux's snare.

This is an interesting point, because I could be wrong, but I thought that Light Binding and Dark Binding had the same missile speed.

According to lolwiki that's right, they both have 1200 units/sec projectile speed, I never actually realized that. The thing that gets me with morg is actually the slight cast time. Lux can snapshot her snare, but Morg has a telegraphing animation somewhere around .25 secs long that prevents snapshot-ing.

I think Morg's snare seems slower because the spell particle itself has a larger visual 'effect area' (The purple missile is literally bigger).

This was my guess. (I checked the LoLwiki to make sure on the missile speeds, but wasn't 100% confident in the info).

I agree on the cast time making a difference though. Having played Lux a fair amount (not well, but often), every time I try to play Morg, the binding does seem a little harder to hit.

The visual effect area point is also definitely valid.

you guys are forgetting missile width and that lux's binding hits 3, while morgs is first hit first served. the ability to penetrate a minion and still land aids lux's quite a bit comparatively, missile speed aside. morgs fat binding projectile is about as bad as old mundo cleaver(pre projectile narrowing this year) for shaving minion hitboxes and thus landing on wrong target.

Correction! Lux's snare can only hit a maximum of two units, with the second unit suffering half the duration.

fair catch, tried finding a point when it changed but wiki patch history only indicates cd changes.

which is odd as i know i've seen triple lane minion snares in intermed bots. might be a bug in there.

thank you for the correction.

Yeah, but it's like the old Nid spears. Even if Morg only hits 1/6 of her bindings, that one is going to turn a whole fight. Especially because you'll probably land it at the beginning or end of a CC chain long enough that no squishy has a chance of being alive by the time it ends.

With the blitz pull, its more risky as you are bringing your enemy closer to you. With morg, you can cast and sit comfortably back with your tormented soil and harrass.

Both are dependent on who the target is, and the priority of each. Pulling or snaring a tank is a waste and a risk. Blitz endangers himself and his team, and morg loses most of her power on the Q cooldown allowing for easy dives. But if either hits a carry the situation is reversed, the morg and her team must get closer to the enemy team and the carry can still deal damage as it's a snare and not a stun (like blitz).

Yes Morg can still harass in a much more safe manner but her damage is so low compared to other mage-supports it's not nearly as beneficial, as well as her ult forcing her to dive if she wants to chain her cc. Is it a bit frustrating to play against? Sure, I'll agree to that, but when it comes down to it it's all she has going for her, well besides Black Shield. As I said I would love to see her re-worked, probably with lower snare time, but she not need a straight nerf to her primary mechanic.

Harass with what though besides her W? :/. Her AA range is 450 so she has to get pretty close to do that and it isn't much. Plus if she misses that she can't really do anything x].

Blitzcrank grabs are more dangerous than Morgana roots. Nami bubbles are arguably just as if not more dangerous than morgana roots.

Morgana doesn't have a stun, she has a root. All (non mobility) spells and abilities are usable during it. ADCs bot can autoattack while snared as morg's autoattack range is lower than any carry. (If she isn't autoattacking during the snare she is being wasteful.)

I've always found the bind to be one of the easier skill shots to hit in the game. Its so wide its very easy to place it where opponents either have to be or will get killed anyway if they dodge. It may be a little slow, but its so wide that anyone who is even slightly late noticing or reacting to it will not be able to dodge without some kind of blink.
