Riot, why are you changing Vel'koz on the pbe?

I seriously cannot figure out a reason for why you are doing changes to him on the PBE. All it seems you are doing is limiting him to only an apc role even though the changes will make him a crappy one at that due to poor scalings on his q,w, and e. The unique thing about Vel was his ability to build as a tankier mage than most since the high base damages let him still due meaningful damage while not being a purple water balloon( building glass cannon ap).

All it seems you are doing is forcing people to play as only an apc instead of a support. It just seems like you are limiting him to one role instead of being creative and trying support Vel.

Personally, I have great success with Vel'Koz in mid lane, by maximizing CDR first, mana regen second, and AP a distant third. One of the only mages where I don't build a deathcap, but go for things like Liandry's instead. This actually works quite well, as rapidly spamming his abilities and never running out of mana is incredibly potent on him, and procs his passive quite frequently since the enemy doesn't have time to dodge everything you can throw in rapid succession.

In point of fact, he's become my main, and overall most effective champion.

Yeah I realized that but is the only way to buff him,really a nerf to his other roles. The main reason I think his mid laning sucks is mobility creep. He actually is a good immobile mage( like brand, Viktor, Malz, etc), who trades massive ap damage late game to a great team fight with moderate ap damage while being able to be more durable than other mages in his same position.

The main reason he sucks in mid is not him being bad, but that all immobile mages are weaker right now then the ones who do have mobility.

Yeah, that is something but he still will never be seen in high level play due to mobile mages being able to do the same levels of damage while also having mobility.

The nerf to his supporting abilities will just make it so that so that he truly never will see professional play
