Question for Riot about cultural references

So I recently discovered that Taric's "Truly truly truly outrageous" joke is a reference to Jem and the Holograms. I looked them up on Wikipedia and was wondering if it was on purpose that the company is named after another character from the show with the nickname Riot. Also, is it on purpose that you named a champion Ashe when there is yet another character from Jem named Phoebe Ashe? and is Amethyst Ashe another subtle reference to the series?
