Sona

Please tell me these changes to Sona released by surrender at 20 (http://www.surrenderat20.net/p/current-pbe-balance-changes.html) are some sort of sick and twisted joke.

And, if by some happenstance they are not (God help us all) would someone be as so kind to explain to me a few things:

  1. Why Sona? She is in, arguably, one of the most balanced states that any AP support has seen since the beginning of LCS. While she might not see a lot of competitive play, she still has her purpose in some team comps. And that is a lot to be said when you take a look at some other alternatives.

  2. Why gut her identity? She plays songs, makes auras, and occasionally stuns people. Why, why why why why? Why?

  3. In what way is her rework more urgent than say Urgot or Sion?

  4. Did you learn nothing from the Skarner rework? No one plays him. No one likes the rework. Everyone is still asking, on a regular basis I might add, for Riot to bring back pre-rework Skarner.

I'm done. I'm just done with this company. A sub-par item pool that hasn't had any significant additions, with everyone building the same items over and over again.

Sion still hasn't been reworked. They still cater to Lee Sin and Kayle because #BigPlays. Urgot still hasn't had a rework.

And you choose Sona. Sona. The most balanced champion in the game currently.

I just.....why?

The Sona rework honestly depresses me, I don't feel like I am doing as much for my team. I've played her on pbe, and I feel weaker, and less impactful... Sona is one of my favorite supports, but this rework is not the way to go in my opinion. Like you mentioned there are other champions they could be focusing on rather than Sona.

The logic is strong with Riot lately. Lee Sin the godliest jungle in the game? Better nerf Skaner. Leona and Thresh still dominating bot lane? Better rework Sona.

They are changing her so that players can see a more immediate effect and feel like their abilities and choices are making an impact and that they can see that.

Riot has decided that sustain supports are to be deleted. Only supports with initiation are going to be allowed when Riot takes our guns away. Look at Soraka. She might have been a little overpowered, so instead of just nerfing her Q damage a little or reducing the power of her self heal, the vamp up all her mana costs and her CDs. Then When people freaked because Soraka just got Olaf'd, the buffed her q CD...um who cares about the Q when you're supporting? Then let's look back a little farther to when Kayle was a viable support. "Let's clip her wings because she carries too hard. Now her heal doesn't work!" "Wait, Riot...her damage was too high so you nerf her heal?" "Yeah!" Remember when Alistar could heal fro rly? Then let's look at how many healers they've added in. Nami was the last, if I'm not mistaken. Nami is the only one whose heal hasn't gotten nerfed yet. To be fair they did buff Janna's, but only because it has a year long CD. Then let's look at ADCs now. They made lifesteal a necessity, not an option. So, they don't need healers. Remember when BOTRK was situational? Or when it made more sense to take armor pen runes than attack speed? I'll tell you what Riot's problem is: the top tier players represent the entire community. PBE is higher level players that play "regularly." They also base a lot of changes on what they see as OP in competitive play. So, if you're a bronzer, like moi, then you get to deal with challenger level strategies through champs' kits. Heaven forbid you let playstyle and item selection influence the outcome of performance. I know someone can probably shoot all of this down, but I only know what I see, so until what you do directly, and positively, impacts my game, I will be a little upset about my favorite champ being randomly nerfed. And yes, it seems random. If you have champs like Galio , Urgot , and Sion going unplayed because they can't survive the current meta in the average player's hands, why are you even looking at Sona. Fix her textures and then stop. If you want an aura champ who sits deep in team fights and has dramatic direct effect, here's a thought: BUILD A NEW CHAMP THAT DOES THAT. Is that not basically the same thing as REWORKING an existing champ? It's not like you have a limit on how many champs you can spin out. It gives you more money anyway because people will buy the intro bundle for a new champ without thought. Why do you need to delete a champ to make a similar champ? Okay. Rage completed.

I completely agree. Sona was perfectly fine and balanced and now... this. She no longer has auras, her poke game is nerfed to the ground and her passive is harder to pull with the much longer cooldowns. That's another of the champion I love playing ruined by Riot and it's starting to seriously piss me off.
