Placement algorithm broken?

I finished last season in s5, after starting in b3, and winning my way up to s5. This was a tough climb. There are ton of people free falling down the ladder, as you climb your way up.

I then played my placement matches for this season, and won 6 of the 4. As usual, ranked solo queue is a mess of AFK, "IF I CAN'T PLAY WHAT I WANT, YOU ALL CANT PLAY", etc.

6/4 is not bad. I expected to drop a little.. but something must be wrong.

I was placed in b5.

I Understood that I would drop a little. but to drop 6 ranks. To have to start in the place where people have no reason to behave, can't drop any further....

Finish in Silver 5. Win 6 of my 4 matches. start at the ABSOLUTE WORST POSITION YOU CAN.

Whatever algorithm is being used.. is just plain broken.

oh and in b4 "Just play more, you can climb again". wtf did i do last season? nothing?

no one else is seeing massive drops in rank after their placements, even after winning the majority of them?

I'm pretty upset about this.. I climbed out of b5 to finally end in s5 last season.

I won 6 of my placement games.

What the heck happened for me to drop and be placed in b5.

START OVER? WTF.

Games in b5 are filled with trolls and afk's.. They literally have nothing to lose.

They don't like the game? they afk. or they troll. it's not like they can go further down.

Take a look since the season start.

Since season start, I've had a terrible game with Yi, 2 'bad games' with kayle, and some okay games with other champs, and quite a few stompings with kayle.

I won 6 of my placements, and played a part in getting that win for all of them.

There's literally no reason to go from silver 5 to bronze 5 with the above games.

Am i not understanding something?
