Lag problems w/ new season

About a week ago I noticed a connection problem- when I would leave the lobby to start the game, the indicator would almost always be super high (around 450-700 ping). Every single time I load a game I need to leave, reconnect, and lose a ton of time. sometimes I need to do it twice before my ping goes low, sometimes it never stops lagging.

However, when it does reloads, it's 100% smooth sailing from there on- i have no connection issues in the slightest, which makes me think that my internet isn't the problem.

Is there a reason why this is happening, and more importantly, is there a way to fix it? Let me know if anyone else has had a similar problem since the start of the season
