Jungle Items Bug

Unfortunately I do not have a picture of this happening in game but I was recently in a Ranked Flex queue playing Rek'Sai jungle.

As soon as I entered the game I tried to purchase a hunters machete but the option was blacked out with a red circle underneath it. Same with the other jungle item.

I had smite and I had enough gold to purchase the item so I'm not sure why I was not allowed to purchase this. I had to start with a Hunters Potion and 100g in my inventory which heavily affected my first clear.

Has this happened to anybody else?
