[GAMEPLAY BUG] Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao Cancelled Auto-Attacks Still Play Hit Sound File
So I was wondering why I was losing far more than usual whenever I used Xin Zhao this season. I had ended season 6 with a 62% win rate on Xin Zhao, but as of two days ago, I was barely at 39% win rate with him this season. It often felt like I was doing far less damage than I was supposed to be doing.
Turns out, it was an visual+auditory illusion. I never noticed this last season because I only bought Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao near the end of patch 6.22. I was accidentally cancelling auto-attacks but thinking I hadn't, both because Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao has a different spear (spear tip is longer) to base Xin Zhao, AND when Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao cancels an auto-attack, the sound file of a successful auto-attack still plays. I noticed this when I was attack-moving with the scuttlecrab, and the damage ticks it was taking was not in sync with my auto-attacks. I tested this out in a custom game using Xin Zhao's base skin and all colors of the Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao Chroma Bundle. As far as I can tell, this only happens with Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao.
How to Replicate (Replicable for around 80% of my attempts):
- Go into a game using Warring Kingdoms Xin Zhao
- Auto-attack any damageable target (plant, jungle monster, ward, enemy minion, enemy champion)
- Cancel the auto-attack at the very last moment by issuing a movement command.
Result: The auto-attack will look like it hit, and the sound file of a hit will play, but the auto-attack will do NO DAMAGE because it was cancelled.
Workaround: To get around this issue and still play using my skin (I paid good money for that Chroma bundle and I'm not willing to give it up), I have bound my Player Attack Move Click to my spacebar to ensure that when I need to, I can just rapid-press my spacebar, allowing me to move and still get all my auto-attacks off. As of implementing this change two days ago, I have won my last 9 games in a row with Xin Zhao and am back to 50% win rate on him. I'm sure that I will get back to my previous win rate soon.
